Milk help!

I gave birth 2 weeks ago, my boy was born at 24+4. I’m struggling with my milk. I’m pumping as much as I can but I’m hardly getting anything. I’m lucky if I get 15ml from one and 8ml from the other. I understand it’s hard as he was so early but other mums on NICU are getting so much more than I am, I’m worrying that I won’t produce enough for him as his feeds have started again and are slowly increasing every 12 hours.

My little one was in NICU too and I pumped for his feeds. Try having something that smells of baby with you whilst your doing it and look at pictures. It really does help. Also try a warm compress before hand and 5-10 minute massage. Don’t give up. You will get there x

Hand expression and hot compresses really helped me when my baby was in the nicu. I was on it, every two hours I was pumping & at one point the nicu asked me to start freezing my milk at home because they ran out of space for me in the freezer. Don’t give up, it takes time.

My daughter was born at 24 weeks even and around the 5th day pp my milk supply was almost 5 to 6oz a session. But then I started plummeting down. I’m still working on getting my supply up. But a few things I tried was drink the mother’s milk tea organic from Publix. Almost the lactation cookies from Walmart/publix. Eat lots of greens and drink ALOT ALOT of water and also hydrate from eating fruits that have a high water volume, also stay on top of the times you pump and how often. Check your flange sizes and what’s comfortable for you. I’m here if you want to talk even just about the NICU experience. My daughter is 8 months (5m corrected) and she’s still in the hospital and ready for discharge next month because she’s in TICU.
