Take notes. Write everything down, what you plant, the date you plant, when it sprouts, when you get the first fruits of your labor, etc. This may not be very helpful this year, but you will thank yourself in the years to come. Also, if you are able to join us, we have a pod on Tuesdays. There are several of us on there every week that have been gardening for at least a couple years and you can learn from our mistakes.

Grow what you enjoy eating

It’s okay to start slow! Pick a few things you really enjoy eating, get starts from a nursery or do plants that can seed straight in your containers/garden bed without having to seed start indoors. Look up your garden zone (just Google your zip code + “garden zone”) to get advice on what to plant when.

Start small, and then add more when you are ready. The easier things to grow are lettuces, other greens, and herbs.
