How to get toddler to take antibiotics? 😩

My 2 year old is normally very good at taking medicine, but he doesn’t like the antibiotics he’s been prescribed 🤦🏼‍♀️. He’s got a severe throat and ear infection so I’m desperate for him to take the medicine! I have tried bribing him but he just spits the medicine out. I have also tried just for ing it into his mouth but again he spits it out. I don’t know what else to do 😩

Can you mix the medicine with one/two teaspoons of juice? I wouldn't mix it with more in case he doesn't drink it all in which case he wouldn't get the full dose as prescribed

We use a syringe, like the kind that come with children’s Motrin and this is going to sound bad but we have to lay him down on his back and just slowly get it in there a little at a time so he doesn’t spit it all out. We tried it with him upright but it literally just all comes right out that way.

@Jessica this is what I’ve been trying but even the smallest amount he’s spitting out 😩

Are you allowed to mix antibiotics into a bit of yoghurt or something? I'm not sure as we've not had them before

@Megan I don’t really know tbh 🤷‍♀️. He has to take them 4 times a day too 😩

Did they come with a big leaflet that might say 🧐

What we do is put the syringe far enough in his mouth so it’s facing directly down his throat, this way he can’t spit it out and has no choice but to swallow, again I know that sounds bad but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

@Megan it doesn’t say 🤷‍♀️

@Jessica I can’t get him to open his mouth wide enough to do this lol

My dr said try mixing it with chocolate syrup?
