Is this the 4 month regression?

My baby is 4 months and sleep was quite good with a consistent routine with bedtime between 7-8pm. For the past few days she has been waking up after 30min or 1h after we put her down and crying hysterically which she has never done… is this part of tgr the “4 month regression”? Night stretches have also been shorter. What can we do to make this easier / go back to “normal”?

It sounds like it. This was really the first big change with my son. You just have to ride it out, there’s very little you can do to speed it up it seems. My advice to make it easier is if you have a partner, talk about the plan to ensure you both get good chunks of sleep during this phase or call in and family or friends for support x

@Emily how long did it last for you?

Still very much in it, been about 3 weeks! We’ve gone from 8-10 hour stretches to about 5 wake ups at night. Luckily my husband works from home, so once it hits 6am and our son wakes up, he will take him downstairs so I can rest as I do all the night wakes as I’m breastfeeding

@Emily 😱 hopefully it’s almost over for you!!

@Emily this sounds like me, 8-10 hour stretches to regular wake ups! How old is your LO? I’m currently 5 weeks in, day naps have started to improve going down for 2 hours just need the nights sorted now.

@Emma he’s 20 weeks! Bless you. I know they say it can last 6 weeks but was really hoping it’ll be shorter. His naps are still pretty much cat naps but he is much easier to settle for them than he was and did do an hour nap today. It is always encouraging though to know you’re not going through it alone

It lasted 4 weeks for us, and I agree with Emily. Unfortunately it just seemed to be something we had to get through. I just tried to go to bed a couple of hours early or would sleep for a solid 2 hours from 6am if my husband worked from home and could take him.
