Sitting

My son started sitting on his own just before he was 6 months, but he still had his hands on his knees as a rest, and would still flop the odd occasion. It’s a gradual thing that happens they can’t get the strength until they try to push up on their own so it can take a couple months from when they start to sit with no issues x

Around 5.5 months he could sit for short periods and flop. 6 months this week and he’s finally started not flopping x

I would have him lying on his back, then roll him into his side and help him up to the sitting position, and over time he attempted to do it himself, around the same time he would try to put his feet under his belly as if he wanted to crawl so I think him finding his feet and arms more helped. Sometimes it’s just consistency until it finally clicks with them x

I would maybe watch some videos on YouTube or TikTok based on how to place them in a sitting position from lying them flat so you know where to move on their body to not put any pressure on their arms x

You’re not doing anything wrong hun. My son is 6 months in two weeks and he’s not even properly learnt how to fully roll yet, let alone sit up on his own. Remember every baby and there development is different 😊

Mines not sitting yet, he wants too however has only just mastered rolling back to front so could be a while yet 😊

. You are NOT doing anything wrong mama. Babies are sooo different. My LO started sitting independently at 4 months however he still doesn’t roll either way when other babies his age do. My niece started sitting when she was 7 months but she had been rolling since 3. Honestly they’re all so different. You can encourage a little by practicing on your lap, doing “sit ups” by helping baby sit up through supporting up their upper body while they try to do it themselves / or their arms very gently. Baby will do it don’t worry
