My first son was like that.. I spent hours on the side of the road until I fed him back to sleep. Sometimes it helped to open all windows during the drive.. (don't ask me why) and we changed him to forward facing as soon as it was possible.. I know its not great (safe) but it was the only way.
Ours is the same but we read books with her in the back instead or showed her soft toys and make funny voices etc. That's the only advice I have to avoid the whole screen time while travelling thing. Mine is 2 and still hates the car after about 30m. We think maybe she gets car sick
I found that my little one went through phases of hating the car and screaming the second we had her strapped in to go anywhere. It’s so stressful! I see all sorts of stuff recommended when this question comes up from chiro to turning the seat forward facing early (don’t do this 😅) but at the end of the day I think you just make sure before you put them in the car that all of their needs have been met (ie fed, changed, appropriately clothed, seat is appropriately fitted and adjusted) have a mirror so they can see you and try to minimise any unnecessary long trips. They will grow out of it…and just when you’re comfortable they’ll go through another phase when they hate the car and then grow out of it again…😅 hang in there!
