C-section

Has anyone recently had a c-section in the countess (within the last 8 weeks) to be discharged after 24hrs how long was it before they took your catheter out and also did they expect you to go to the toilet for both a wee and a poop before they let you out or was it just a certain amount you’d need to wee before being let out? With my little boy 3 years ago it was that I needed to wee a certain amount before being discharged but now I’ve just been told by a friend that they won’t let you out until you’ve done a poop aswell.. so if someone who’s recently had a c-section in there could clarify this for me it’d be appreciated :) thank you

I had one at Warrington so same trust as countess and they took catheter out after 12 hours, I went for a wee and it had to be a certain amount. Didn’t have to poo before leaving they just gave lactulose and advised drinking lots of water xx

Hi, I was literally discharged the same day after my section last week. I had to have a wee before leaving and it did have to be a certain amount but that was it. I think it depends on your needs as a person and how the section went overall. I was literally on my feet an hour afterwards 🤣 and pretty much back to my usual self My catheter was out around 3 hours after my section (I did ask for it to be removed)

@Dee was this in the countess?

@Rachael yeah when I booked my section at 20 weeks the midwife first said 12hrs then ideally overnight, but I’m sure if I’m done early enough I can ask for it to be removed at the 12hr mark and then I’ll just go the toilet. Witn my last I remember I had to wee a certain amount, as for poops it took a few days 🙈😂

Yea they took my catheter at midnight (had my daughter at lunchtime) I was ready for it out at 12 hours as wanted to just put my own pyjamas on and brush my teeth etc so they did it at one of the obs checks! I was discharged on day 3 due to antibiotics, they asked me if I had been but said that it can take time so just to drink lots and take lactulose xx

@Rachael see that’s what I want to do, just want it out and to get myself freshened up and in my own pjs so I’m just gonna play it by ear, thank you :)

I had a c section 10 weeks ago. My bub was in the NICU so I wanted it out asap. They removed it around 24hrs as I really didn't want it in so I was asking for it to be removed as soon as I had feeling back in my legs. I also was up and moving straight away because I wanted to go be with my little one asap and wasn't going to sit around and wait. They wanted to discharge me on day 3 but because my little one was in the NICU they didn't push me to leave so I was discharged on day 4.

when i had my c section i straight way did a wee with the catheter in and in the toilet and they took it out within 12 hours and i was up on my feet straight away only stayed in for 1 night and got given lactulose to take home.
