Feeling like a bad mom…

I work from home part time about 25 hours a week. I have a 1.5 year old daughter who is super chill and loves tv 🫣 she can watch a whole Disney movie start to finish and be very content while I’m working. BUT I feel like an awful mom for letting her watch tv and doing too much screen time everyday. If I leave the tv off and put activities in front of her, she will only play for 15-20 mins before wanting me. Tv is the best way I can get work done. I’m debating on having my mom watch her 3 days a week so she can have more one on one attention but the point of me working from home was to be with my baby and not rely on others to watch her… some days I really want to quit and focus on her because working from home makes me feel like a bad mom not giving her all the attention. It’s just a hard decision. I make $60k a year so I have a hard time giving up my income. Do any other moms also let their babies watch an excessive amount of tv while they work? Is this wrong of me?

My husband and I mostly work from home. We have a nanny. There is zero way we can focus on work AND take care of a child. The best part about WFH is we can take breaks and hang out with him. Let your mom watch her.

You’re doing the best you can. It sounds like you value having time with her and feel guilty about how much TV she’s watching and want to be more engaged with her. If her spending time with your mom means she’s getting that one-on-one that you want her to have, I say go for it. That’s a lot of income to let go of. Sometimes tho, you gotta turn on the TV 😅😂

@Mee That’s amazing that you have a nanny!! I agree, I love taking breaks to feed her, change her diaper, and I usually take a break to take her for a walk outside. But the rest of the time I need to focus and that’s when tv goes on 🫣 yeah… I definitely think I need to just let my mom watch her a few days so I don’t feel anxious while working thinking she’s neglected.

@Skye thank you!! I think I’ll definitely need to start getting help from my mom. I always miss her when she’s not with me lol. But she deserves more attention for sure. Thank you so much!
