Levels after delivery.

So I finally gave birth to my baby early hours of this morning. I was diet controlled and he has already been cleared for bloods. My levels (been asked to.test for two more days) have gone off the chart. Breakfast was a 10. I have never had one that high. I know I've eaten oddly to when I eat so expected some difference but not that. Has anyone else experienced this after delivery.

It is supposed to get normal 3 months after delivery, keep the diet

Thankyou Jill. I'm planning on it. What's worked for me I've really come to enjoy. I'm hoping it's just the madness of the delivery that caused it and now I'm a little more settled it will go back to how I've been. Just freaked me out a little

Three months 😯 I was planning on eating a whole quart of congee after I delivered 😭😭😭

The levels just normalise quite quickly - it's the placenta that causes GD. Give it a couple of days. Is there a reason you're testing still? I didn't have to test as soon as I had the baby!

They expect all mums in the area to test for 48 hours after birth

This is why most trusts don't do this anymore but remember you do have the other limits now and not the GD ones, but I know 10 is over them. But it is still all hormonal too. You don't have to keep the diet as strictly at all, but obviously are now more likely to develop type 2 in the next 5-7 years xx

I finally have my test, as I delivered 12 weeks ago, my glucose level during my last term of pregnancy where insane, 9 once even 12 😵‍💫 and now my levels are back to normal, my fasting test result was 4.8, of course from now I will be more careful with what I'm eating, and adding always as more fiber as possible to my diet

I had a packet of mini eggs that my husband had saved for me today shared not the whole thing. And I felt so sick after having them. Its like my body can't handle that much sugar anymore. And I wasn't a massive sugur eater before hand either.

I was told sickness and stress can mess with your numbers, keep in mind your body did just undergo crazy stress delivering a baby. Keep an eye, but understand that may impact what you're seeing for a bit
