There’s pee on the bed… help!

We potty trained our son about 2 months ago. He still uses diapers for naps and for overnights. Because of this we started using only two piece pjs - it’s easier for us to get him to use the restroom right before bedtime, and after his shower. Here’s the problem. In the middle of the night, he will shove his hands down his pants and diaper and mess with his penis. Sometimes he’s awake and sometimes he’s still asleep. At some point it’s either pointing in the wrong direction or hood diaper is scrunched up and then there’s pee all over him, the bed, and me this morning 😣 Any idea on how to prevent this from recurring?

Maybe try doing a one peice pajama until he no longer puts his hands in his pants. That’s what I’m having to do with my son rn. We’re trying o start potty training and when I have him in just like a diaper or pants on over it and his shirt doesn’t like button over his diaper he will take his diaper off and pee where ever cause he just likes the “free feel” as my husband says.

@Caroline Cox I think the bigger issue I’m having with that is that we don’t have any that fit, which means we’ll have to buy some 😣 plus it’s just difficult to get him to pee or poop between putting his pjs on and him actually going to bed. Our bed time routine seems to take forever! 😅 Worse comes to worse, I may just need to give into this idea.

Ok, we are no where near this, but I want to help! Here's some ideas to mull over: 1) little sleepies have VERY STRETCHY pajamas. So you'd be able to unzip and easily take his feet out for potty. 2) what about a sleep sac or wearable sleep sac? It would restrict access to his parts. 3) do they make PJs that unzip at the waist? That would be awesome.

@Kyla thank you for your helpful suggestions! I will need to look into these options. I think I will try a sleep sack that still gives him the ability to move around independently since he’s in his toddler bed now.

Get a sleep sack that has the feet open. We have one of these and he can easily walk around and it has a double zipper so we can unzip from bottom or top. He doesn’t ever mess with the zipper so he can’t get it off. It also has buttons along the crotch area and down the legs so you could do it that way also

@Lauryn thank you for the suggestion and the picture! I’m trying a sleep sack tonight. Hopefully it goes well.

Does he still use a sleep sack?

@Catherine he does now, to prevent this issue from happening. He wasn’t using a sleep sack before the other moms suggested it.
