Napping?

My son has always had generally lower sleep needs and has never slept 12hrs over night but now it’s 9pm-530am with a 1hr nap. Safe to say me and hubby are TIRED lol as I’m also 38 weeks pregnant- a barrel of laughs as you can imagine. Would dropping the nap help? He’s like satan without the nap and I need the downtime during the day so I’ve been reluctant to cut the nap but I think I have no other option. I feel like if I drop the nap all that will happen is that he will sleep 8pm-530am which isn’t a whole lot better? Any advice!?

First off Congratulations with your new baba ❤️ I would 100% drop his nap. First few days will be really hard. Try and get out for a walk (no pushchair) when his usual nap time window is for some fresh air. I thought I’d really miss nap time but I started to dread the battle so we’re all really happy without it It depends how you feel now, with being pregnant. Are you gunna need his nap time for time with new baba? It takes a few weeks to fall in to a new routine. You might find him falling asleep at 6pm or earlier but put him to bed, and then each day try add on another 15 mins, or alternatively you could start cutting his nap down, 15mins a time. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I wouldn't cut the nap completely yet but cap it to 30 minutes and have at least 6 hours awake time before bed. Lots of exercise if you can. My lg has low sleep needs too but without a nap she now sleeps 7pm until 6.30

Thank you! I’m going to gradually cut back the nap, I asked his childminder to cut to 45mins today and apparently he was a bit grumpy about it lol
