Work

I’ve just gone past 19 weeks and work in a place where I’m on my feet all day to the point where I struggle to walk afterwards. The manager knows it’s a matter of time before I ask for less hours but is now too early to do that?

I worked 40hrs a week in retail up until 35 weeks and believe me I wish I’d left earlier do the best thing for you and your body and give yourself that rest it’s never to early or to late to ask for reduced hours do what’s best for you x

@Chloe I’m just thinking it’ll only be for 2 hours a day as that’s when my feet start hurting and walking around putting items away takes me longer and gets more difficult

@Elizabeth that’s perfectly fine atleast you’re at work and being active don’t push yourself to much the further along you get the harder it will get rest up now is my advice x

@Chloe thank you. I’m going to speak to them when they’re next in

I recommend putting in your resignation if you can. If you can't try talking to your manager about your hours and how you'd like to work out your schedule, I'm currently 26w 4d and I've just put in a request to work 20hrs a week, 2 6hr shifts and 2 4hr shifts, I have carpal tunnel in my legs and feet so once they start to swell I can't feel them until I rest for a bit then it feels like I'm walking on pins and needles for a long while and my lower back feels like it's on fire 😭 my RN tells me compression socks and a maternity belt are highly recommended by working pregnant women, I have a maternity belt and it works on keeping my back from aching throughout work, but I have not tried the compressions socks yet but I'm planning to get some next paycheck

@Cypress I spoke to him yesterday over message and have to wait till next week so he can sort something out. I feel like I’m dying 😭😂 gets to this time of day and I can’t walk properly

@Elizabeth Tbh I'm putting my 2 weeks in today because my job has really been pushing it with my patience

@Cypress I’ve come home crying so I’ll go in on Tuesday and say something because 9 hours a day on my feet is killing me. Baby’s dad isn’t happy about this either and he doesn’t work there anymore

@Elizabeth get a doctor's note asking for more breaks, that's what my doctor did when I went in to change my schedule so they can't ignore the fact that your pregnant and need more care because it's a legal document signed by a doctor and if your work doesn't follow it you can sue them

@Cypress the more breaks I take the more money gets deducted and I need the money right now. I think they’re listening to the fact I do need a shorter shift so I’ve been told to just let someone know when I’m leaving today and I’ll see what happens tomorrow
