Piercing baby's ears

Hello! I have a 4 month old baby girl and I really want to pierce her ears before she turns 1. Any suggestions on what month is best to do it and if the needle or the piercing gun is best?

Needle is best:)

Great question I’m interested too! What age?

Hi! I got my baby’s ears pierced when she was around 4 months old and she hated it but it didn’t last very long. We went to a tattoo/piercing shop because piercing guns cannot be sterilized, so needle is safest/best!

I haven’t had my baby’s ears pierced yet (still on the fence about it, but need to make a decision very soon.) but my cousin waited until her daughter turned one and said she regretted waiting that long. My pediatrician also said that a lot of people opt to do it fresh out of the hospital! My mom said she had mine done at 3 months, and i cried a little but I don’t remember it at all of course lol, and my piercings are just fine. I think probably the sooner, the better. And definitely needle is best!

Thanks!

Needle and at 3 months is usually when it’s ok.

Thank you! 😁

My culture it's done on day 7, just a day before the naming ceremony. A sterilized needle is used, and they numb the point. I amd others may not think it's ideal, but a whole culture practices this. So do what u are most comfortable with.

Always do needle. The piercing guns aren’t cleaned that well at all.

Needle

I waiting to get my baby’s ears pierced until she’s 4months. My pediatrician said it best when they turn 4months old because they’ll have their tetanus shot by then.

Asap is better! And needle 100%

I waited till my daughter was 10 months and she cried so much, and she was also a lot more fussy then too.

My tattoo & piercing shop recommended to me, If you don’t do it around 4 months, wait till baby is around 4 or 5 years. Their reasoning: The ears spread out by then about as much as they are going to so more likely to stay even as they age. And they’ve outgrown the tugging stage by that point.

Wait until 6 months or until they get their tetanus shots. Definitely go with piercing with the needle or the earing itself. The gun causes too much trauma and could get infected.
