Hospital bags???

So having your first child is always the most important thing to a first time mother. My first I’m so excited 😆 so nervous and just so many emotions going through my head my body I just want to be prepared. I’ve seen so many videos and list on what I need but I don’t want to over do it or under do it. My question is what are the most important must haves and just little extra thing that I’ll need to be prepared enough and ready the day of?

I overpacked! You really don’t need much, the hospital (most at least) provide everything you need and you can ask for extras to bring home. The only things I used that I brought were my own blanket, pillow, phone charger, night gowns with buttons in the front and back, toiletries, towel, going home outfit for myself and baby, my hospital asked me to bring my pump so they could show me the right flanges and how to properly use it. I really think that was all I used. I did change on my second day there just to get out of the gowns, I was there for three days. Oh yeah and shower shoes.

I definitely overpacked also. I was induced so i stayed a total of 5 days, my fiancé brought a roku and I definitely recommend doing this if u have one. Also dont forget long phone chargers.

The things I would recommend would be your own blanket and pillow. Three hospital ones suck! I would also suggest a folder for all the documents they give you. Snacks are a must! Definitely a Roku it helped watching comfort shows plus easy to pause when the doctors and nurses came in. Slippers, button up nightgowns, and depends the hospital does supply you with mesh underwear but honestly they just weren't it and it was much easier to have the depends. Also a huge water bottle I was so thirsty in labor.

Needed: shower shoes, shampoo Didnt need: towels. I didnt wanna dirty my own Needed: my own pillow and a throw blanket for comfort Didnt need: nursing pajamas or labor pajamas, again id rather dirty the hospital gown. Needed: comfy going home clothes. A front zip sweater, a water bottle (held more than frequently asking for cups of water), SNACKS! Baby. Swaddle, size newborn and 0-3 clothes. Didnt need. Diapers, wipes, creams, post partum care items (i asked for extras to take home too) Husband. Shower shoes, pajamas, entertainment

I overpacked for my first as well. With this pregnancy I don't plan on much besides toiletries, a change or 2 of clothes(I spent most of postpartum in loose fitting shorts and my nursing tanktop), long phone charger, my own pillow and a going home outfit for baby. The hospital should provide you with everything else as far as pads/mesh underwear and what baby needs.

Extra long phone cord! Also, just as a side note, ask for their hospital grade heavy duty nipple cream. I’ve yet to pack my bag, but I will be soon! I’ve seen the long list of recommendations on sites as well as the shortened versions. I’m also a natural over packer in general, so I’m sure I’ll still bring items I don’t need. QUESTION: should I pack my own PP care items? Will the hospital provide? Did you feel like the items hospital provided weren’t up to par?? (Sorry to steal your comment space, but I thought it may benefit you as well to know!)

@Jessica my hospital gave me dermoplast spray, their version of tucks, ice packs, pads, meshies, peri bottle (and extra to take home)

@Michelle Oh, that’s great! Thanks so much

I packed flipflops because walking barefoot in the hospital is a big no-no. I brought a comfy outfit to go home in, 2x clean nighties with buttons on the front, my own pillow, a dressing gown, undies, an outfit for Bubba to go home in and some soap and moisturizer and hairbrush. Everything else the hospital gave me. I was in hospital for almost a week after birth for various reasons.

I had very minimal stuff with my first due to preterm labor and my hubby packed my bag. I’d say the essentials are comfy clothes, toiletries for shower, a good towel, comfy slides, and a long charger chord. Anything extra will be personal preference. The hospital will provide diapers, wipes, and post partum items.

All you really need is comfortable clothes for yourself after labor a robe will do wonders for u nd some house shoes all baby needs is a clothes and socks the hospital provides everything else they’ll give you diapers wipes milk pads for you They give everything with my first I over packed my second I only came with the items I’m telling you oh and a blanket for your baby nd car seat of course
