Has anyone read Educated by Tara Westover?

I'm only on chapter 5 and so far I cannot stand it. Idk exactly what it is, but its writing is pretty boring to me and I get way too irritated when it seems like she portrays/assumes others' feelings or thoughts in the story, but has no real reason seemingly to back up those statements. I've read a few memoirs, but I'm not sure if I want to continue this one.... does it get better?

I really didn't like it, so I'm in the minority. I think because it's a memoir she gets away with writing the way she does. The stories she told felt greatly embellished and that is why I wasn't a fan.

I have and I loved it. But I'm also a huge fan of memoirs so it'd take a lot for me not to like one. (I've only ever read one that I didn't like 🤷🏽‍♀️)

I just feel like I haven't once been immersed in the story or feel connected to any characters, even the author. It's like she's mainly just explaining family history and family drama, rather than showing it to me and how she experienced it. But like I said, I'm only on chapter 5.

I say keep reading, it’s a great story

My jaw dropped when I finished the book. It was unbelievable that her mom gaslit her the entire time. Not a big fan of memoirs but that book had me talking for wks afterwards.

Loved it! Couldn’t believe that kinda of thing still happens in real life
