Inductions?

Okay who here had a scheduled induction when they had their babies? I need opinions. When I had my son I went into spontaneous labor at 42, 2. And yea labor sucked but like I had him vaginally like I wanted and didn’t have to use pitocin and all that. We are 7 months with our second and discussing how we want to go about things this time, and I’d love to do spontaneous labor again because I’m personally not wanting an induction but our circumstances have changed drastically and we are genuinely worried about how it’s going to go if I go into labor in the middle of the day. I provide childcare in my home, and plan to work until I go into labor but it would take close to 30 minutes to an hour if I’m lucky for parents to come get their kids so I could go to the hospital, not to mention if my husband is at work it would take at least an hour for him to get home from work to even take me to the hospital. I went from a 2 to a 9 in 30 minutes with my son so I’m worried I won’t have the time with this one. But I also am worried about all the interventions that can result from induction and I’m worried about the pain levels and everything..idk what are y’all’s opinions for those who had one?

I had one…I wouldn’t recommend Pitocin to anyone unless it’s necessary and will NEVER do or recommend elective induction again. I had a LONG, hard, and traumatic labor that ended in a c section. 2 friends that ended up with the same situation. The friends I have that went naturally had beautiful birth stories and no issues afterwards. It might be best to just not work up to your due date, but ultimately whats best is what YOU decide. Good luck mama you got this!

I didn't end up having to have my induction start as I went into labor naturally the morning of, but I agree with pitocin taking me out. They had to start me on it and that's when I was begging for pain relief 😭 definitely talk over all the pros and cons with your OB

I would highly advise against Pitocin. Your body knows when to have your baby. Western medicine has brainwashed women into thinking that we can’t do what our bodies are MADE to do. You will go into labor when your baby is ready to come out. Your doctor is probably going to push hard for the induction but I would stay strong and have your baby on your own time.

I had an induction due to preeclampsia and was still in labor 36 hours plus on all kinds of drugs. I hated it and hope I never have to do it again. They did every med on me and a foley bulb and nothing worked until pitocin which made things unbearable

Are you able to stop working a couple weeks before 40 weeks just so you're prepared? Or if you can let the parents know ahead of time that you may go into labor during the last 2 weeks or so and if they can be on stand by to come get their kids. If my husband worked an hour away, I would ask if he can stay home to be sure. When my water broke, luckily it was his day off and he took me to the hospital. But his phone was always on towards the end of my pregnancy.

@Sam he works in town, the problem is he works for the post office which is a way shittier job than they make it out to be. They legit told him he will probably only get the day that I’m in labor off. We had problems like this with our first kid too but he took a week off and applied for Fmla and they denied it and he got written up for taking a week off. It’s just if he’s already on his route then he has to drive all the way back to the office and deal with unloading and stuff before he can come to me which will take like an hour. They are super shitty. As for the parents of the kids I care for; they both know, I just don’t know how quick they will be able to drop work and come. I’ve already had to send one of their kids home sick and it took 45 minutes for them to come get them. So it’s like 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk. Also one of them isn’t allowed to have their phone on them so I have to call their work and be transferred to them. I don’t think we can afford for me to take off a couple weeks before.

I had to get induced due to having gestational diabetes during my pregancy. Labor was about 26 hours and once I got an epidural later on the pain was bearable. At one point I was at risk of needing an emergeng c section (due to babies heart rate dropping once) and I ended up with a bad tear, but my baby ended up being born safely and vaginally in the end. I would not do it again this way if I had the choice, but sometimes you don't really have a choice. Definitely talk to your healthcare provider about your concerns. Is there someone you could have on stand by in case you went into labor that could take your place in the daycare for the rest of the day if that situation did come about?
