Fluid intake

How much are your little ones drinking a day. I’m trying to encourage my LO to drink more because she’s badly constipated and barely drinks a bottle a day. My BF thinks this is normal but I know it isn’t. I’m just interested to know how much everyone else’s Lo are having at this age

We are really struggling. My little one hardly drinks anything and is so constipated as well. We had to go to the doctors and get some laxatives for her which are helping a bit more. She won’t even drink juice or squash and won’t have oat milk (she has cmpa) We have found a few novelty exciting bottles are good as each day she has something fun. We also leave out our cups of water and just let her go for it if she grabs one. Have also given her sparkling water which she thought was fun. We leave a bottle/cup in each room for her and also do lots of “cheers” as she enjoys that and gets her to have a drink. Ice cubes are also a good way to get her to drink and she enjoys having those in her water. Also home made fruit ice lollies.

I’m glad I’m not the only one going through this struggle! We have tried the laxatives and they haven’t done anything, we’ve also done 3 suppositories to try and help ( not all at the same time 😂) and still nothing! she’s literally screaming in pain and I don’t know how to help.

Yeah our little one was screaming and crying in pain saying she couldn’t do it and needed help. The laxatives took a week or so to actually work and I have to give them to her same time every day else it doesn’t work as well. We are going to up the dose as she is still straining a lot but is at least going every day now whereas before it was over a week. Have you tried different ones at all? I think there a few doctors can prescribe

It’s heartbreaking isn’t it! We are on 10ml of lactulose twice a day! And still nothing 😩. I’m going to go back to the doctors next week and see what else they suggest. I’m worried they are going to have to do a procedure to help unblock her at this rate

We’ve been doing a daily dose of cosmocol which has really worked and it’s all natural

Hi. Fluid intake of my daughter is also a struggle for us. I have been obsessively monitoring the amount she drinks and how much she’s wetting her nappy. I really try hard to encourage her to drink water. She’s drinking her soy milk-sometimes just sips, sometimes most of what I give her. This is why I continue to nurse her. To keep her hydrated and she’s in a low centile weight too. She loves fruits and veggies, so those help with her poo. You’re not alone. Xx
