Eye contact

Baby is 10 weeks next week and I don’t think he easily focuses his eyes on the faces of his parent or other people near him. His eyes still seem to be learning coordination and wander a lot still. Could other mothers with babies of similar ages let me know their baby eye development at this sort of weekly age? Thanks 🙏

My little girl is 14weeks and the same, she’s very observant and alert but she won’t make eye contact often especially not with me! 🤷🏼‍♀️xxx

My son is 10 weeks also going on 11 he’s able to make eye contact and follow objects and or parents: every baby is different however but I would bring it up to their pediatric

Pediatrician

@Emily same with mine! He gives me some eye contact but seems to move his eyes on pretty quickly. He concentrates a lot on sensory Hey Bear videos for example or on walks, he looks at all the trees moving but I don’t see him stare at a person even me for too long. Wondering if I should be worrying about it

@Renay thanks Renay! Does he focus on you for a decent amount of time when talking to him for example? Mine does make eye contact and does follow objects but I don’t feel he stares at people for a long enough duration.

I did read that sometimes if you’re talking to your baby and looking in their face constantly stimulating them it can become too much stimulation and they can’t handle it and look away and it did seem to be that as when I don’t look at her she looks at me! She’s just today started watching me and laughing! So assuming it may just be a phase/stage? Xxx

Sorry for the delayed response but yes, sometimes he just stares at me or his dad. He follows me from the couch to the kitchen when I walk away when I’m talking he will look etc
