Feeding logistics when out

We are currently combi feeding due to a difficult birth but I'm thinking ahead to when I actually go out the house and how it'll work. We're using aptimil formula but according to the instructions you have to use a bottle within 2 hours and it has to be made with 70 degree water and then cooled. How do you manage this when out and about? The gap between the end of one feed and start of the next doesn't feel long enough for anything so I'm sure there'll be at least on feed while out anywhere!

Are you pumping too?

@Sarah I have started but not managed to do enough to get some saved yet. I read that can only be out of the fridge for 4 hours. Is there an easier work around for that? I guess a cool bag?

Hello - I have a little container with a few sections I can measure out the formula needed. Then I fill my bottles with the cooled boiled water and mix when needed. My bub isn’t phased on temp but you might also want to explore a bottle warmer so you can offer a warm bottle when out and about if that’s their preference

I use Aptamil ready made bottles when I go out

@Norleen in the U.K. they recommend using boiling water to kill the bacteria in formula. Not sure if it’s the same where you are. I used to use the ready made aptamil when I was out when I combi fed. I also had a flask that kept boiled water above 70 degrees and took this out with me so I could mix formula freshly if needed because ready made formula can get expensive!

We use the nuby rapid cool. It’s genuinely the best thing we’ve bought.

@Norleen ah ok I’m combo feeding bottles of milk from expressing so that’s why I asked! If I’m going out I take pure breast milk in a cool bag with an ice pack - and then just take it out a bit before I need it to warm up!
