Headache

I’m 19 weeks pregnant and I’ve had a terrible headache going on 24 hours. I’ve tried ice on the back of my neck, tylenol, warm shower, sleeping it feels like everything is making it worse. I don’t wanna go to the dr for a headache because that sounds so silly but i’m starting to feel like it’s my only option. I’m miserable and i never get headaches. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to try to get rid of it? Should I go to the dr? Has anyone had an endless headache?

I would call your OB!!

I’d go to the doctor but also how hydrated are you ? It happened to me too and I just kinda drunk as much water as I could and it went away I did like a gallon of water a day after that I was fine no more headaches .

@Brianna I could probably drink more water but i’m at like 64 ounces a day

@Destiney that’s a pretty decent amount honestly I would check in with your OB don’t feel silly about it better safe than sorry ♥️

Call your OB. Have you checked your blood pressure recently? It may be high, and honestly Tylenol is the only thing that you can take at home. 😢

@Courtney My blood pressure usually runs a little higher but it hasn’t been anything abnormal. Are they able to give me different medication at the drs?

@Destiney depending on how high your BP is, typically with pregnancy it should be on the lower side. I ended up having to be induced because of my blood pressure and my headaches (I ended up having it for the whole third trimester.) They can give you different meds, I think they tried to give me rizatriptane and Fioricet (I think that’s how you spell those) but neither of them worked for me 😔

@Courtney My blood pressure is high because I’m so anxious. I have a panic attack at least every other day. We’ve done all the test and I wore a heart monitor and they don’t seem to stressed about it so that’s good I guess. I’m sorry you felt this way for a whole trimester! That’s absolutely terrible. I hope if they do give me something it will work lol

The concern would be pre-e but at the same time headaches are perfectly normal during pregnancy. OB asked if I drank water (I drink at least a gallon a day) and to try Tylenol with caffeine so wheather that be coffee or tea but I was doing all that so she prescribed fioricet and that worked great for me! Also don't feel silly calling about "just a headache" they can get super bad and a good OB understands that, even the pharmacist could tell how bad it was xD

@Favi Thank you so much for the information! They are already worried about pre-e so i’ll definitely let them know how i’ve been feeling. I just took some tylenol and working on keeping it down so I’m hoping that helps. I’m definitely going to work on drinking more water! I would totally try caffeine but it makes me have panic attacks. I’m so sensitive to it for some reason :(

@Destiney I have bad anxiety normally and I drink matcha which doesn't trigger anything. It has an animo acid that helps with relaxation which is pretty great! Cuz I love it XD Not saying you have to do it just a suggestion if you're interested, although I know most people don't like it. Good luck! Hope you get some headache free days soon!

@Favi I’m definitely going to try that! thank you so much!

Are you drinking electrolytes

@Favi matcha is Incredibly healthy- I was drinking every day before pregnancy for 4 years nonstop, along with two other types of green tea a day… just one thing tho.. the catechins ( which are super good against cancer fighting.. )are being show to inhibit folate uptake… so I’ve backed off it in the first trimester- or if I do drink it I wait about 6 hours before or after taking my prenatals.. everyone always thinks oh yeah yeah your not because of caffeine… but you and I both know it’s so minimal compared to what people pound for coffee.. so just be a little careful- I’m 100% on board with green tea for life.. but you also want to make sure your getting adequate folate at least in first trimester.. 2nd. Yes L theanine is great for relaxation… for most people… but for some ( like my mom…it causes crazy dreams and has the opposite effect) she is crazzzzy wide awake… so super good advice but you will have the odd adverse effect here and there
