thoughts on iud?

I was thinking of getting the iud because the pill doesn’t work for me (makes me sick) and we do not use condoms when we definitely should be. Thoughts on hormonal iud and copper? I was thinking of getting the hormonal iud but i’m scared of gaining weight or other issues that can come with it. All forms of birth control seem like they cause issues which is why I haven’t gotten back on it but unless I want to get pregnant again, I need to be on something…

Girl I’m in the same boat. I had a really long sit down with my ob about the iud and she recommended the hormonal one. And I talked to my cousin and she absolutely loved her and my ob even has one. I was between the depo and the iud and I’ve come to the conclusion of getting the iud. Me and my boyfriend both did our research and figured it was the best option for me. I was the told the copper one could cause more cramping and heavier periods whereas the hormonal one wont and you could spot or just not have a period with the hormonal one.

I’ve gotten the non hormonal IUD after my baby and had never been on birth control before. So far I’ve had it for 2 months and it’s been great, very little cramping and spotting

I have the mirena which is the localized hormonal iud. My first one fell out and then the second one was painful. The bleeding for me after both was a lot and only just recently stopped and I got my first one in November of last year

I had copper for 5 years, worked great. More thrush possibly though, was my only side effect. Also I thought I could feel it at times during sex which grossed me out.

I got the mirena in November and was terrified, but I’ve had almost no issues at all! No weight gain, no mood changes, I get like 2-3 days of spotting per month, no cramps. My only issue is I think it made my eczema slightly worse. I was planning on getting the copper one, but I was advised that it could make my eczema worse, so I went with the hormonal but it also made it a little worse. Overall, I like it anyway!

I had Paragard for 5 years before baby and have a new one now. I had heavy periods for about 5 months when my first IUD was placed but everything leveled out after that. No issues. No issues with my current IUD either.
