There is latching videos on YouTube but I tried tipping my nipple up as I put it in his mouth to get him to latch. It's hard I struggled so much with it so I understand the frustration and disappointment you will get a hang of it. Give yourself some grace you are both learning something new

The best possition to do breast feeding is the natural pose (baby vertically up your body) and you are sloutched as this will also help support baby. Then with one hand support baby's head and with the other control your breast. Touch the nipple to the nose this should start their natural reflex to open their mouth when you can see a nice wide mouth and they are reaching up for nipple (which they should do naturally but may need a little help). Baby should then attach. You also have across your body technique, part of their body under the breast you're not using again nipple to nose, help guide the nipple to mouth and they should tilt their head a bit and reach for nipple. Massarging you're breast before hand should help bring your milk down too. You might not get a great latch straight away, so take them off and try again.

I would look up paced bottle feeding on YouTube. It’s a short video and helped train us and baby for breast feeding. You can also use a nipple shield cause it’ll make your nipple seem like a bottle nipple so he may latch with that. I had to use that for about a month or two before my son would latch on my nipple. Check out La Leche League website for more tips too. Breastfeeding isn’t easy. I spent a good amount of time crying when i first started, but it’s worth the struggle! In the end, a fed baby is a healthy baby, so be kind to yourself mama. You’re doing great ❤️

I'm so sorry they treated you like that! That is so unfair for them to make that decision for you about your baby being on formula. Use all the resources the other women posted and see if any of that helps. Hopefully he latches and you can put all that behind you.
