Milk is still the main source of hydration, just sips of water occasionally to start with is ok, it's really just to get them used to it, they don't actually need water at this stage. After a few months or even they're a bit more established on solids you can encourage a bit more water. My little boy has started on solids, but he's not overly interested. He only has around a teaspoon of food at the most, so I haven't even given any water yet. I'll probably just give him an occasional sip soon to start getting him used to it

@Estelle thankyou we haven't started foods yet but I did hear they need water too

I've started solids twice a day for the baby. She's having pureed oats with banana, sweet potato, and carrot. Started slowly, with oatmeal and one veggie/fruit for 3 days to watch for reactions, but everything's going well. Still breastfeeding afterward (one side at a time and pumping the other). 😊 Haven’t tried water but i Dont think is necessary yet as we are getting pretty wet nappies 😂

You can start by offering sips of water via spoon or cup with each meal offered.

Yeah as stated by others, water isn't really necessary if you're breastfeeding. But just to get them used to the idea, you can offer some water. Skip straight to a baby straw cup or an open cup (no need for sippy cup)
