C section anxiety but excitement!

So Thursday I am in to have my elective c section! I am feeling a bit anxious as had a natural birth with my 1st child! I am really struggling physically and am worrying about the actual op! I am worried about complications, worried about baby as he was 8lb 13oz at 36 weeks and I am now 39 today. I wonder how much bigger he will be and if he is okay. I will be so much happier when he and I are all in recovery and on the mend. Even more so when I am home! I can’t wait for my 2 boys to meet each other but feel there is such a lot to get through first! Any words of advice to help with the anxiety and nerves would be much appreciated xx

I had an emergency c section last year and it was such a lovely experience even as an emergency. The staff talked me through everything held my hand whilst waiting for my boyfriend to get gowned up & played music in the back ground to keep me calm. Nothing was done with out being talked through with me first & I was back on the ward after an hour eating toast! Recovery was a lot easier than I thought too, take it easy but try and keep moving. I found the longer I stayed sat the harder it was to get moving so even a short walk to the kitchen will help. Good luck I’m sure you’ll be fine xx

Thank you so much! Just really ready now for pregnancy to be over and have my littlest man with me at home. Going try focus on that as much as I can x

I had one two weeks ago. And it was such a better experience (had an emergency with my 1st) Bring a playlist without on your phone and that really helped my nerves. I think the worst bit was getting the spinal injection which actually wasn’t bad at all, but I was more nervous at that bit. Then before you know it, baby is out and you get skin to skin cuddles while they sow you back up so you don’t even realise because you are so in love with your baby and meeting them. I filmed a little bit when she was out and I love looking back and thinking, that was so much of a nicer experience than my first. After a week I was out going for little walks and now we can do long walks. You will do amazing and then think when it’s over that what was you so worried about. 🥰 x

Thank you! I need to make a playlist I had one but think I need one which is more soothing. Any recommendations, I like Ed Sheree’s so might go for him he does a nice mix of songs x

I had an elective due to babies size last week. Firstly try not to worry about his size, I was told 8.11lbs at 36 weeks and she was born at 38+5 and weighed 7.12lbs. The section itself is of course daunting and overwhelming at times but the whole process from start to finish is really quick and before you know it you'll be on your way out of theatre with your baby! I just kept reminding myself of that at the moments that I found scary - as soon as your start it's nearly all finished! The staff I had were incredible and so reassuring throughout and my recovery has been really positive too. I read a lot around the process in the section itself so I wasn't surprised by anything and looked into ways to improve chances of a good recovery! The standing, moving, doing everyday things by myself has been a mind over matter thing, I've rested a lot but also made myself do small things each day so I feel like I have taken a step forward. Good luck xx

I’ve got mine Thursday too, I was meant to be going Friday but they just rang to move me to Thursday 😳 xx

Aww well at least we will have someone to message if we need someone in the same boat. It’s better that they have got you in earlier maybe just had a cancellation or in other words an early arrival. Best of luck all will be fine for both of us xx

I have mine on Friday and the nerves are starting to set in now, I will be making a playlist now and hopefully all will go well for you and your little one xx

@Kimberley thank you ☺️ Yes I’ve heard lots of positive story’s that it’s a lovely experience and baby is out after about 10 minutes and then your so distracted with baby while they finish what they need to 🥰 Hope all goes well for you xx

@Kimberley we had an 80s playlist. It was great. 😊 x
