A experienced sonographer will most likely beable to spot boy or girl very quickly yes a boy would be obvious very fast but it really doesn't mean they saw a boy I'm surprised they let you look if it was meant to be a surprise at ours they turned the screen off for a minute
@Chloe-MaryJane Ah this is good to know! We are happy with either but just worried it had ruined the surprise for us a little! xx
@Ann-marie that’s what I’ve been thinking, he’d been doing it for years so I imagine he’d be able to spot it immediately if baby is in the right position. He told us to look away while he properly focussed on the genital area to double check, it’s just with him saying “did you see it” that made us think maybe it’s a boy because what’s there really to ‘see’ if it’s a girl 😅 I think it’ll still be a surprise either way!
@Heather I would of just taken that as did you see it (gender) because he wanted you to look away then lol honestly I was the same with my gender scans looked into every word they said for clues we had to wait 3 days that was hard enough lol
I was convinced at one point we were having a boy because of “nub theory” and everyone telling me how I’m carrying… so when we went for my gender scan at 17 weeks, my husband asked if we could see baby in 4D and sonographer said “it would make the gender too obvious”, so we definitely thought it was a boy then! We had our gender reveal on Saturday and it’s a girl 🩷🥰
I was sooo convinced we are having a girl from early on. All friends and family said that as well, thst we must have a girl... we booked an early gender scan, where they were convinced and we could see it too, that it is a boy. We were still over the moon as I always imagined myself as a boy mom. At 20 weeks I travelled to my home country and visited a well respected OB, who showed us how wrong they were, and in fact we are having a little girl. She was born last Friday and we could not be happier 🥰
That’s what I thought when mine did the same but having a girl so could be either !
If you didn’t see but the sonographer then baby could deffo still be a girl! I had a private gender scan at 16 weeks and the gender was obvious to me and my partner before they even said anything
As said above experienced sonographers can tell basically straight away. I was told at my nhs 12 week scan and i know a few other girls who were scanned by the same woman the same day and every one of her predictions was correct x
I had this with my scan ! Was convinced it was a boy after the scan even though I was convinced it was a girl the wholeee time but it was a girl 😊 xx
