Sterilising breast pump parts

Just trying to get prepared for my little ones arrival. I plan on breastfeeding and have a pump ready for when the time is right. Struggling to get my head around sterilising. I have a microwave steam steriliser, so once all parts are sterilised do I put all the parts of the pump back together or does it need to air dry completely? Xx

Definitely let it dry. If you have a manual it should have a page to let you know what parts do and don’t need sterilization. Usually it’s only the pieces that would come into contact with breast milk. If you don’t have a manual, you can look it up online! That’s what I did!

I may be wrong but I didn't think it needs to dry. I put it together and use it straight out of the steam steriliser, the water on it is sterile 🤷‍♀️ my boy is 10 weeks old and no issues. In fact, this came straight from a midwife - she said you only need to sterilise it once every 24h, as long as you keep it in a ziplock bag at the back of the fridge between uses 😉

I don’t leave it to dry ain’t got time I whack it in the air then use it like Kalina mentioned I was also told the water is sterile too so I could use it afterwards just gotta be careful it’s not too hot though. I wash in soapy hot water my pump parts but sterilise it once a day x

I steralise mine after every use in my microwave steriliser whether that's right or not I don't know. The instructions say to let it dry, but I don't have time for that. It goes in the microwave and when j need it I put it together and off I go.
