Extended rear facing car seat recommendations

Hi, Looking for car seat recommendations! The seat I’ve got isn’t Swedish + tested, and will only rear face until 18kg. I’m looking to upgrade to a car seat that will rear face for longer and that has had extra crash tests done, what do people recommend? Price isn’t too much of an issue Thanks!

What centile is baby following xx

@Kiera 84th, currently 11.7kg at 15 month x

Ask for advice in Car Seat Safety UK, they helped me! I've got a britax romer swing plus which I love! X

I got the axkid minikid 2 and absolutely love it. It was recommended to me by a fb car seat safety page but it only goes to 25kg, my son is only 25th centile so seemed a safe enough choice for us. I'm definitely not expert but if your child is higher centile you'd probably want one that goes to 36kg (not sure on height) axkid minikid 4 might suit weight wise though

I’d go for the Britax Max safe pro, Britax safe way m or the be safe stretch. All 36kg seats and Swedish tested. Theyre amazing xx

Axkid have all the extra Swedish tests! They’re pricier than other brands but worth it for the peace of mind for safety. I’ve got the Axkid Minikid which is one of their most popular seats. Not sure about different percentiles but worth looking into it!x

Thanks for all the advice everyone! Xx

We’ve just got the britax max safe pro as our daughter is high percentile for weight. It takes up a fair bit of space, so worth looking at the dimensions and seeing if it would fit your car. We’re so pleased with it and she’s been really happy in it as she can see a lot more out the window. We also looked at the ax kid move kid (I think it was) but she didn’t look as comfortable in that one. I’d definitely recommend finding somewhere that sells the seats where you can go and see them in person, try them in the car and baby in the seat. Xx

I'd recommend car seat safety UK too. I've bought an axkid minikid 3 (no longer out but they have improved it and released a minikid 4) and an avionaut sky from two of the admins and aftercare has been spot on both times. 🙂

Deffo ask car seat safety UK on Facebook! We have the Axkid Minikid and it’s brilliant for us x

Axkid, Besafe, Avionaut and Britax are your main brands to look at fro ERF swedish plus seats. Short list the ones that fit your child's centiles (do you need the extra weight limit of a 36kg or can you get away with something around the 22-25kg mark), then decide what extra features you're willing to spend extra on. We went for the axkid minikid 4. Whilst we may not need the 36kg limit, we are expecting baby 2 in October so I wanted to future proof. It has auto adjusting head rest when you tighten the straps so especially useful if ever used between multiple children. It has memory foam so feedback from other parents has been good about their child's comfort. It has one of the longest shells, so if your child ends up carrying most of their height in their torso it should still last them well - some children outgrow their seats before hitting 125cm if long in the torso but short legs. We've been using it for about a month and can't complain :)

We have the Axkid One+ and it's so good, one of the safest on the market, RF to 7 years of age! Isofix as well which is rare for these extended RF car seats. Super expensive but we got ours on a deal and thinking that we'll only every need the one car seat so it's worth it.

@Jenny just to note that the age limits are based on average centiles, so I child high on weight centiles may not get so long out of the One+ as it's limited to 23kg, even if they're still well within the height limit. I'm assuming you know this already so it's more for the benefit of people reading 🤍 I think it's really misleading when brands lead the marketing with ages and hiding the height /weight limits 🙈
