Not rolling over

My son is about to be 6 months old and still isn’t rolling over. He HATES tummy time. He cries with in 2-3 minutes of being on his belly. I’m starting to worry. Anyone else have a baby that isn’t rolling?

My baby is also about to be 6 months and is not rolling. As soon as we put her in tummy time she puts her arms back. I’m a little concerned so I’m going to talk to her pediatrician at her next appointment but I’m hoping they can refer us to a physical therapist to possibly help.

Mine just turned 6 months and isn't rolling. She can sit unassisted for several minutes, but is barely even trying to roll. Lol. We've been told not to worry about it.

My LO hated tummy time and we just started tummy time around four months. My little one just started rolling at six months and what help my LO was literally tummy time on the hour each hour for at least 6-8hrs if you can. Once your LO starts to cry just congratulate them for last and as long as they lasted, and say good job and I promise you that literally motivated my little girl and two months later she’s rolling over.

Mine will be 6 months next week and isn’t either. He’s 85 percentile for weight I think it’s just harder bc he’s bigger lol

My daughter was the same, once she realized she could roll back and forth and scoot she’s been fine since I was starting to worry too.

Are you laying him on the floor? Have you tried other positions for tummy time? My kids (twins) are the same! Hate tummy time but Zion can roll from tummy to back while his sister can’t do anything but she’s learning to enjoy tummy time! I lay on the floor with them and play with toys mostly while playing music to help keep them calm! Once i see them getting agitated i flip them over and allow them to get a break 5-10 mins and then do another 5 mins of tummy time! I do this a few times a day 2-3 times after naps and it has approved how much they have tolerated tummy time a lot

My baby hated tummy til from birth til about last week. He’s 6.5 months currently. I had brought it up to our pediatrician bc before he’s only do it for 2 mins or less before scream crying and she said as long as they get a minimum of an hour of tummy time a day that’ll be fine even if that means a lot of short bursts of tummy time

The water bed and mirror helped. Also, when are you placing them? Sometimes waiting 30min to an hour after feeding is best. You want motivation, something that will encourage tummy time. Finally setting a time. Start with 5min every hour in the wake window. My daughter hated tummy time for a bit but the more consistent I was the better she got.

Mine hated tummy time too. I just started laying flat and having him lay on me and he learned a lot that way!! And now he can lay on his tummy with no issues

My 6 mon old just started to roll. He only rolls once and go back to his back. He doesn’t like tummy time either.

My 6 month old rolled both ways at 4 months he rarely rolls now occasionally belly to back but not really back to belly anymore. I will bring it up at his peds apt but I don’t think I’m concerned bc he has shown he can do it. In the mean time for you I would try to do tummy time by laying baby on your chest or across your legs, rolling up a towel or blanket and out under their chest to lay on. Do excercises with him to encourage rolling. They are plenty of videos online that show you what you can do.

My boy is almost 6 months old and he’s been doing this the last few days he looks like he’s trying 🥰

Just here to say that my LO started rolling at 3 months and could roll both ways by 4 months BUT when my sister was a baby she only ever rolled 1 time but could sit unassisted at 4 months and walked at nine, all to say that every baby is different no need to worry ❤️

I AM NO EXPERT but I did see if you don’t pick them up n roll them on their back to calm them down then pick them up it shows them that they don’t have to panic while doing tummy time, maybe try that ?

@Natasha he is! That’s how it starts!

Try putting him on your chest and lay back 45 degrees he will look at you and things around you, this counts as tummy time.
