How much is your baby eating?

Hi moms! How much is your baby eating a day? My son is 4 months. He is growing according to the doctor so I’m relieved a little but still… How many feedings and how many ounces each bottle or per day? I get anxious if my son sleeps too much and doesn’t eat at least 5 times a day and 5 ounces per bottle so a total of 25 ounces. He’s a good sleeper so I want to make sure he has all the calories he needs before he goes to bed!

my girl eats about 3-4 ounces usually every 2.5-3 hours she is 5 months

My boy is 4 months and drinks 5-7oz a bottle about 5 times a day. We split the last bottle before bath as much as he likes and then the rest I add more milk and give him after right before bed. He averages 30-35oz a day. He also started purées and eats one veggie/fruit in between two feedings and oat cereal before his bath too. He’s about 18lbs so he’s not super big but loves to eat, so I would say he eats a lot. I think 25oz is usually they minimum they should be drinking around this age, but you can ask ped if your concerned at all. Mine said to give my boy less which I said no to lol

As long as your baby is growing right along his curve, don’t be concerned! I breastfeed exclusively, so I don’t know how many ounces. My baby is huge at 20.25lbs, our doctor hasn’t said anything about her diet because she’s EBF, and you can’t really over feed a breastfeeding baby. No solids yet, as it’s not recommended until six months, but we’re anxiously waiting!

As someone commented above, as long as child is growing fine, I wouldn’t worry. I’m also EBF so I have no way of knowing how much my baby eats, but when she’s hungry she lets me know. If he feels ok, sleeps ok and grows ok it should mean he’s eating enough. Does he give you hunger cues when he needs a bottle? Wouldn’t he wake up if he was hungry?

@Megan my girl is the same way! I was so worried because she also eats 2-4 ounces every 1.5-3 hours

I'm in the same boat, my girl was born very low percentile so she's still small, about 12.5 pounds and at 5 months, but she typically eats 3-4 oz every 3-4 hours, only waking up once at night. She's bottle fed at daycare and breastfeeds at home, but that's my best average estimation. Our pediatrician has no concerns for her growth so far.

@Megan Thanks for that! My husband and I try so hard to make sure he has 6 feedings a day and at least have 25oz. I should just relax! I am sure he is fine with 25oz and 5 feedings 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@Maria Lol I would still continue to feed him as much as he wants! He needs to grow! The doctor wasn’t concerned and said that he’s growing and healthy so I guess I shouldn’t be frontin so much but it’s hard to NOT WORRY as a mom! I’m glad your boy is growing! He eats a lot! Love it!

@Mary Ann Ohhhh such a big boy! Love it! The pediatrician said he’s ready to have solids but I think we are going to wait until he’s about 6 months when his head control is better and he can sit up without support! 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️

@Marta Thank you for that reassurance! As long as he’s growing then I shouldn’t worry! Hmmm, he cries when he is hungry and his feedings vary from 2-4 hours with 5oz. Hmmm he wakes up multiple times in the night but we just pat him back to sleep. I guess if he’s really hungry then he wouldn’t go to sleep?

@Sarah Thanks Sarah for sharing that! Every baby is different and as long as the doctors aren’t concerned then we shouldn’t be! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

My baby loves to sleep too he’s been sleeping through the night since he was 2 months and I was scared I wasn’t feeding him enough. He’s 5 months now and drinks 6-7oz bottles every 2-4hours now.

@Jenn and lemme tell you, her small size definitely shouldn't be anything either! I swear, even though she's low percentile, she could kick me off my chair if she wanted to, lol she's so strong, and she does look chunky! It's just proportional. I bite my tongue every time and older person says something about how she's so tiny and they'd be afraid to give her tummy time, because she so clearly is going perfectly along in development and has such a big personality. Don't even get me started on the size of her poops!

@Jenn today my baby ate 22oz and she is in the 85% at 17.12 pounds. don’t worry to much about the numbers your baby will tell you if they are still hungry! i say that as i still track her feedings at 5 months old 😂

My 4 month old (turning 5 months on the 15th) drinks 6 oz every (3-4) hours and sometimes has baby food today was different though he ate after 2 hours twice

@Kaniya Yesss, same here! I am scared that he wasn’t getting enough calories since he sleeps through the night. Thanks be to god for letting him sleep between 7-10 hours overnight. I’m blessed! Ohh my goodness! 6-7oz at 5 months! Love it! I find it crazy how much it varies when it comes to feeding times. Sometimes my son isn’t even hungry at 4 hours!

@Sarah Oh my! Such a strong girl! Tiny but mighty! Love it! Thanks for sharing that! Being tiny doesn’t mean anything as long as they’re healthy right??❤️❤️❤️❤️

@Megan Thanks for that! I still track her feedings too. When do you plan on stop tracking them? It can be a lot of work to keep track of things!

@Alyssa Thank you for sharing! Growing baby is all I ask for! I just wish my mommy brain 🧠 wasn’t so worried all the time!

@Jenn I definitely understand I’ll wake up and watch my baby breathe in the middle of the night just to give me a peace of mind. Also my baby has weight problems too

@Jenn i’m not sure probably when she gets more on a schedule. i mainly use it to remember the last time she ate and slept because i can’t remember anything 😂

@Alyssa Yeah, it’s hard not to do that you know? What kind of weight problems? If you don’t mind me asking. Doctor recommended anything to help?!

@Megan I see, yeah! I use it for that reason too. It helps my in laws know when it’s time to feed and sleep. 😴
