Elective C-Section

Sorry for asking such a stupid question but I have no clue about this. So can you have an elective c-section just because you want to or do you need to have some medical condition/ high risk pregnancy, etc?

Yes you can! I’ve got an elective booked in for 39+2!

You can! Your body your choice. Some providers aren’t keen but ask for someone else! Remember it’s your body you have to consent!

Anyone can request to have a section

As far as I know you can but they’ll probably try to talk you out of it, I’m pretty sure if the reason for it is a phobia of childbirth they offer therapy and stuff first to try to encourage you to do it naturally because c sections bring extra risks and complications from what I’ve heard but it probably depends a bit where you live as well, I know the midwives and healthcare providers for my area have definitely seemed like they do everything they can to avoid unnecessary c sections x

Anyone can request one but some people have found it a challenging conversation with their midwife. The key is to not be put off by their stance on the matter if it is 100% what you want. Especially if there is no medical reason, a lot of people have said they felt rejected and encouraged down the natural route. The facts and stats around csections can sound a bit alarming when they present you with the info but the more research you can do prior, and the more direct you are about it, it’ll only go in your favour. My midwives are the opposite and completely in support of women advocating for themselves so it’s not necessarily going to be a tough conversation!

Not sure but I do know if you have been in active labour (4cm >) for more than 12 hours you can ask and they can’t say no xxx

I’ve chosen an elective section with no health problems, it’s your right x

Yup! Go for it , I really enjoyed my first!
