Standing up in cot!

Guys what have you all done about babies who have learned to stand up in their cot? Honestly it is quite hilarious watching him traipse around the whole thing but I’m also worried about the sleeping bags now and that he might trip as his feet might get caught up in there. Also, he’s fallen asleep independently for a long time and we could just lay him down in the crib! Now what? Do we leave it up to him and wait until he gets tired enough he manages to fall asleep himself in there? Do we sit in the room and keep laying him down until he gets the idea? Give me all the tips! ❤️

Following because we are in the same boat. The “drowsy but awake” does not really apply as LG just immediately stands up in the crib 😓

Mines started doing this! I just ignore him until he gets upset (which can take a while as he’s busy exploring the cot🙄) then I’ll lie him back down with his comforter and pat his bum and eventually he gives in. Can take 10 minutes, can take 45😂

He finally managed to get to sleep for his first nap after a wake window of about 5.5hrs! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Can’t be doing that everyday as it takes until he’s to the point of exhaustion poor guy ❤️ xxx

@Sarah That’s kind of what we did earlier in a way. He’s finally down now. He was happy enough at first exploring. I went in periodically to lie him down with his comforter but he kept getting up. Eventually he was so upset I got him up, fed and changed him and tried again. Only took a few tries the second time around and me being sat on the floor of his room. Fingers crossed he gets the hang of it quickly! Xx

@Bridjette Yeah, even when they’re drowsy they just get back up again. They’re upset because they’re tired but still get up 😬

Mine won’t fall asleep in her cot anymore 😩I have contact nap and transfer asleep which isn’t sustainable but she just messes about otherwise 🫠

Mine has just started standing up I’m the cot. I just left him to it and eventually he lay down and went to sleep. Me being in the room would just distract him more

@Shayne That is so upsetting 😭 My little one was happily being laid down in his crib and would pretty much go straight to sleep unless something was wrong. It made his routine so predictable and meant he could link his sleep cycles himself etc. My little one hasn’t contact napped since about 3-4 months old or so and he won’t fall asleep on me anymore so I’m going to have to come up with a different plan…

@Sophie This is where I’m hoping to get with it all. He was very overtired and upset at bedtime though and just kept standing up and sitting down and crawling all over the cot even though he was exhausted. It took him 2hrs to get to sleep in the end…
