What should I be using on my 15 months old eczema?? Please share what works for you!!

My little one has eczema on his back and a couple small patches on his chest, mostly just visible after the bath. Our pediatrician prescribed a hydrocortisone cream but I haven't used it because I'm concerned that it isn't safe for a 15 month old after doing some research online. I've been applying a&d ointment every night after his bath per pharmacists recommendation and it looks a little better. I've used aquaphor on it in the past and am currently slathering him in cerave baby cream in the morning. If you have a baby with eczema what do you use that works?

Few things we do For baths we don't use liquid soaps anymore. Just bar soap either Castile or goat milk soap. For lotion mustela has been working well for us to keep most flares at bay. If we have a bad flare that isn't helped by lotion alone we have both OTC and prescription hydrocortisone. Usually after a day or two it helps calm it down and we can keep doing our regular routine. But we really needed it to get into a good skin routine. We always start with the OTC % first and see how it gets on.

Tubby Todd all over ointment cleared my daughter’s eczema. A little goes a long way

I have eczema and don’t blame you for not using hydrocortisone on your LO. My son also has eczema so I started looking for baby safe products. I found a company out of Bend, OR who created a line using goats milk. Their site is bendsoap.com I’ve been using them for a few months and although it hasn’t worked 100% for me my eczema is definitely better. It has worked very well for my son though, his skin has cleared up since using this stuff. It’s not a guarantee but it might be worth a shot, good luck!

Try not to use any steroid creams. Eczema is usually caused by an allergy to something. Foods or detergents. I would see what you’re feeding. My baby girl had an allergy to eggs when she was 4 months. I only figured it out bc she was breastfeeding and at the time I was trying to diet and was eating the same thing everyday and I found out it was the eggs, immediately when I stopped eating it it went away within a couple days.

Try using raw shea butter and goat milk (powder form at Walmart) for after baths and just goat milk powder for baths. I have 2 children with eczema and it took so much trial and error

I have eczema and basically my whole family does, including my daughter now. It totally understand the hesitation to use hydrocortisone. Our doctor prescribed a 2% cream but I started using 1% over the counter cream only on her “hot spots” and only when it gets bad. Because it’s an auto immune disease, not everyone has the same triggers. For my sister it’s mostly dairy. For me it’s stress and certain chemicals (so I can only use certain detergents, deodorants, etc). I will say it’s tough in the summer because sweat can also really irritate eczema. So I try to wipe away sweat off my daughter with a damp towel when I notice it

My son goes to a dermatologist and he's been using the following as recommend by his dermatologist. I was informed not to use any of the baby products. Instead use dove sensitive soap bar, cera ve healing ointment, cerva ve moisturizing lotion or Just plain Vaseline for moisturizer, blue lizard sunscreen was also recommended and all clear laundry detergent. My son has slight irritation here and there mostly from outside factors from day care but these work well for him
