It’s really stressful I think and such a fafff!!! I did the same with the thermometer it cools really quickly once it’s in the bottles also if I left it 30 mins or more it would get cooler than 70 so that didn’t work either 🤦🏻♀️ you can actually buy kettles that have the temperature on it but they’re quite pricey x
You wonder how we ever survived with all of these new recommendations 😅 I’m going to get out my thermometer and just check today to make sure I’m getting it right x
My advise is, get a prep machine, they are little bit expensive but worthy. I don’t wait 30 mins, I just wait until it’s not too hot to hold the bottle. I worry about the bacteria developing if it’s left too long to cool. I was given a prep machine but heard they weren’t recommended because of hygiene so I don’t use it.
We wait between 15-30 mins, so it's cooled a bit but still hot enough to kill bacteria.
@Touran yes I’ve also heard really bad things about prep machines making baby sick
It’s because water shouldn’t be boiling hot as it kills the bad stuff as well as the good stuff in the milk. It shouldn’t also be below 70C because it isn’t hot enough to kill the bad bacteria. If you wait 5min and it’s between 80C and 70C it should be ok (I used a food thermometer in a separate cup to test the water). In the beginning I was boiling the water and then forgetting about it and it would go colder than 70C because mom brain and now I’m using a prep machine as I find it easier to deal with.
