Reusable nappies

I would love to use reusable nappies with my new baby, the issue is I live in small flat in the UK with no outdoor space for drying or room for tumble dryer. Anyone have experience with using them? What’s your advice? Does it work out cheaper than buying disposables? I know it’s a lot kinder to baby’s skin. I really like the brand bambinomio 😃

You have to calculate the extra washing on the electric and water bill if it’s one load of nappies a day 7 days a week i imagine that was my worry I live in a flat too

I have no experience with reusable nappies but my laundry life changed when I bought a heated/electric clothes drier/airer. Diapers are so small you could dry them super fast!

I use reuseable nappies, and live in a 1 bedroom flat, my LG is nearly two and I’m due in June too, I do have a balcony but can use it when the weather is nice I genereally hand my nappies and boosters on airers with a Dehumidifier when the weather is shoddy. I love reuseables and find that I’ve saved a fair bit of money, that’s including the cost (I wash every three days with a pre wash then a main) I also use reuseable wipes. My favourite brands are little lambs and modern cloth and baba and boo, and close popins for newborns. I recommend visiting the nappy lady website/inst very helpful advice. Also there’s a Facebook page called clean cloth nappies which is a great source of information. There’s a huge second hand market for reusables, and also your council May give out vouchers to use reuseables! Some brands also do hire kits which is like a try it before you commit to it. I use pocket nappies and all in ones during the day then use a two part nappy for night time. Xxx

I would suggest looking direct at little lamb as they’re a good all rounder and have a Try them all type of kit, I would say maybe buy a couple too see which works best for you!

We’ve used them with our first born and really like them. Deffo think it’s saved us money. We use tots bots mainly. I don’t think you can use a heated rail as that could damage them. They’re only supposed to air dry. When drying indoors we use a dehumidifier to help quicken the process and that works well 👍

Thank you all, I definitely want to give them a go

Have a look at Bellz Bumz too, they have an incentive going on to get yourself a starter pack at a lower price

We used cloth nappies with my first, definitely recommend looking at Baba and Boo nappies, they’re my favourite by far. The ones you can separate into components dry so much quicker. I’ve got a few bambinomio ones and we only use them when we’re desperate, the Velcro goes all fuzzy in the wash and they’re just not as nice as other brands! I hired a kit from our local cloth nappy library and tried out a few different brands before buying. Definitely recommend a dehumidifier for quick drying too.
