Tdap shot

I’m at my doctors appointment today and they want me to get a Tdap shot done today for the baby which i’m not sure about. The side effects look horrible.

I got it! It’s safe and side effects are rare. My arm was just sore for a day or two!

Can you talk to your doctor about it? Benefits vs risks and why they recommend it. I personally get it while pregnant and require anyone who is around my children regularly to have been vaccinated within the last 10 years. I don't want to mess around with whooping cough.

I got it, arm was sore for a couple days but otherwise I was fine

I got it. My arm was sore for two days, but otherwise no issues.

I told my midwife I will get my shot in the hospital once my babies were born! They were cool with that. But my husband is getting his next week as well as the rest of my family

I got Tdap at 28 weeks, with no side effects besides sore arm, like others. I would strongly suggest the RSV .. I was never offered and got RSV myself months ago. I was sick as a dog for 3 weeks. The only good thing about getting RSV during pregnancy is supposedly giving baby some antibodies, so might as well get vaccinated and give antibodies that way verses getting sick with it.

I’m against vaccines. All sus

I got the shot last week and I was fine. No side effects except a sore arm for 2 days. I think it’s a great choice as you don’t want to have to deal with a sick baby at any point.

I literally got mine this morning at the doctor's office during my appointment.

No side effect apart from a sore arm!

I got mine a few weeks ago, just had a sore arm!

Got mine already and got it with my last pregnancy too. Just a sore arm.

I got mine a few weeks ago and had no side effects and my arm didn’t hurt at all

I got it worse side effect I experienced was swelling and pain at the injection site for like 2 weeks .. I feel better knowing my baby is at least now partially protected from whooping cough

i got a prescription for my first pregnancy and this one .. never got it .

Only side effect I had was a sore arm. Getting it during pregnancy is the best way to protect your baby. It will build their immunity while they’re still in your body and protect them until they are old enough to get their own vaccine. With all of these types of health decisions for my kids, I believe I have to defer to the experts who have spent their lives studying this in a way that I have not. Doing otherwise would be a disservice to my kids.

@Erica I thought it only provided partial protection? Until they can get theirs?

@Bella just pointing out he lost his medical license over his vaccine protocol and is being closely watched over it. He isnt allowed to talk to parents about vaccines anymore. I believe every parent has a right to do what they think is best, but I wouldn't use a doctor who lost his medical license because children got seriously hurt under his care as an example to not vaccinate.

I got mine, no issues.

Got mine too and no side effects, not even a sore arm.

I got it and I didn’t have side effects. Only my arm was a bit sore

I got mine! I worked at a daycare for a few years so I was for it. No side effects for me

@Bella omg !! i agree !!! i didn’t want to vaccinate my baby neither

Side effects especially the big ones are rare. All vaccines that are giving to you during pregnancy helps baby until they are old enough for their own body to fight against viruses. Being a fully vaccinated adult protects your baby from a lot of viruses that they can’t fight off.

The vaccine has been around so long that any side effects are rare. The threat of your child getting any of the diseases it prevents is much worse than the side effects.

There aren’t any side effects other than the sore arm.

@Ally I don’t think any vaccine can be said to be 100% effective. There are always breakthrough cases. The whole idea, though, is to lower the risk to yourself and especially baby, which most vaccines do very well.

I got mine a few weeks ago and feel fine

I did a ton of research on all of the vaccines as i’m quite the skeptic… ultimately I opted in for TDAP and opted out for flu, covid, rsv, and all the other bs ones i never take anyways. I would have gotten RSV if i was having baby in rsv season though… I really only got TDAP bc of the whooping cough factor which is really scary to think about. The positive statistics in the decrease of infants with whooping cough once the vaccine started getting pushed is a night and day difference compared to when the vaccine was not routine. This way the baby will have immunity until he can safely get his vaccine for it. My arm was sore for 3-4 days tbh. But no side effects at all besides that, and i was very worried about getting sick or feeling tired from it. I would get it at your next appointment if you didnt this time (: i opted out of it for 3 appointments until i finally made up my mind😂
