Second jabs

Does anyone have any advice for second jabs (12 weeks) I’m so nervous as I have heard they’re worse because the babies are more alert and react worse 😭

What is second jabs?

@Ana Moore the babies 12 week jabs…

Personally our second jabs were fine. Our last lot was the worst for side effects but every baby is different. I think for second jabs you don’t need calpol but could be wrong x

as long as he’s looking at me, he does super well

The second jabs were the easiest for us. She barely cried and she wasn’t poorly after them unlike her first set.

No no they are not worse Just make sure to give Calpol .. our nurse told us not to give calpol as it doesn’t make fever but our LG cried from pain .. so once I have her Calpol she was better

Calpol before hand

2nd lot was easier than the first for my little boy but, the doctor did tell us to never give calpol before, always after

@Beth I gave my little boy calpol before his jabs and was fine, it settled him aswell

Calpol 30 minutes before the vaccination.

@Sarah I did for my little boys first ones, but that's when they said not to do it again. Her example was ... if you take a paracetamol for a headache and then after get a toothache, you can't take any more to take the toothache away ... which made sense to me so I didn't do it for the 2nd lol x

@Beth but the painkiller would still be in your bloodstream so would still work for both headache and toothache. But you can give calpol every 4/6 hours

My baby was actually a lot better with the 2nd jabs, it was the 1st and 3rd he suffered with as they give the men B vaccine which is what gave my baby a temperature, and that’s not given on the 2nd jabs. Lots of cuddles and some Calpol and it’ll be fine 🩷

You’re never supposed to give medication before shots. You can mask a reaction. They cry for a few seconds but get over it really quickly.

It can also lower your immune response to the vaccine

My first and second have been absolutely fine only difference was no calpol before immunisations are needed because they don’t get the men b this time around

Second ones were absolutely fine for us, better then the first lot! He only needed one dose of calpol after, he just relaxed most of the day! I hope your little one is okay too!

@Ana Moore I was also confused by the term jabs 😅 seems like it’s the vaccination shots. I wonder where everyone is from since Iv never heard someone say jabs or use Calpol 🤔

@Alexis a lot from UK. Jabs=shots, calpol is tylenol lol welcome to peanut
