Rolling onto tummy in the night

My LO is coming up to 6 months and has finally learnt to roll. I’ve just woken up to him on his front and he was sound asleep but I panicked and rolled him back and he instantly woke up and got upset and wanted to roll back to his front. Is it ok for him to sleep like this if he got himself into the position and was placed on his back to start with?
