Buggy bored and/or double pram

Hi all,

I have a 2 year old and I’m due my second in July. My 2 year old likes to walk but does use his buggy a lot.. he’s definitely not ready for walking everywhere. He is however a big boy and weighs over 15kg. When looking at double prams I found they generally went too 15kg per upright seat, making him too big for most.

So I decided to invest in a buggy board off marketplace which I tested this morning and he loved it, however having tested it, I find it very difficult to manoeuvre the pram with it on and my initial thoughts are that I don’t like it so maybe need to look at a double pram again. My husband works shifts and we both do a lot of solo parenting with our jobs so would like an option that we can take both babies out with and not worry or be stressed as my toddler enjoys running off 😂

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions? I cannot afford anything like the bugaboo donkey but of course need it to accommodate my toddler and baby and be of good quality.

I’m in a veeeeery similar situation with babas, newbie due in June now though with a planned section. So I’m going for a buggy board and buggy hammock. That way he can still relax and even snooze if he wants to! Then I’ll look at double buggy’s again come the colder months and sale time 😁

We have gone for the Cybex Gazelle S as both seats have a 22kg capacity. This new is rather expensive however 2nd had there seems so be some avalible for 300 on fb marketplace that maybe of interest if that's in your budget.

I believe the out n about nipper v4 also has the same seat capacity. I know this is a popular choice but not sure on price point 😊

We are also in a similar position, could you tell me the buggy board you did get and didn't get on with please

@Megan it’s the lascal maxi + (the one with a seat).. luckily it was from marketplace so didn’t buy new. My partner is going to have another look at it tomorrow and make sure we’ve put it on right as overall the reviews are good and it’s pricy so I’m now doubting if we’ve possibly put something on slightly wrong! 😂🙈

There’s a bugaboo group on Facebook and people are often selling older versions on the donkey for quite cheap xx

I need to rant I’m so upset

When I was pregnant my mother in law told me part of her Nigerian culture is to wash the baby with African black soap when they are a day old. Apparently in their culture it is said to stop body odour. Now even I wouldn’t use African black soap on my own skin it is SO DRYING. I was so against it because newborn skin is so delicate and I LOVE the newborn baby smell, but I didn’t want to upset her and I didn’t want to offend my partner. So I asked to compromise, I said can we do this when he’s a little older, like 3 months where his skin is more mature. She agreed, she asked if she could use an African net to scrub him, I said absolutely not.
Fast forward to the day after my son was born we had a big altercation where she and my partner accused me of starving my son because I refused formula and wanted to breast feed but I wasn’t producing enough ( it was the next day, my body was just producing colostrum and I was feeding it to him through a syringe) he was absolutely fine she just wanted to be a bitch. I was so upset and refused to speak to her or my partner. Eventually me and my partner we made up and our son spent 7 days in neonatal unit and was eventually told we can go home. He spoke to his mum who said she didn’t feel welcome in our home ( I lived with my mum at the time). I told him to tell her it’s the home of her grandson she is more than welcome. He then said that she said she’ll only come to see her grandson on the day he comes out of hospital if she can do the African black soap. I felt manipulated because how could I say no. So she did it. And she scrubbed my son silly. He was 6 days old, I’m still traumatised. Now he’s 4 months and has the driest ezecma prone skin. It’s heartbreaking I’m trying everything. My partner said he had ezecma as a baby/kid, but when I ask my mother in law she lies and says he didn’t when I know he did. How could he not? You scrubbed your son just like how you scrubbed mine. I’ve tried everything, creams, baths, no soap just water like how I would have wanted to do from the beginning. I can’t help but feel so much resentment. She got to do her silly ritual for her grandson and F off and now I’m left with a baby with such sensitive ezecma dry skin. I hate her for it, our relationship has never been the same since my baby was born. I’ve told my partner how I feel and he understands but it’s his mum so he feels like he can’t do or say anything. Any way I just wanted to rant. If anyone is of Nigerian descent and has had this done to their child, what did you do to help them? Did they have dry skin too? Or if anyones child has dry or ezecma prone skin, what did you do?

Nap routine?

When is the best time to start getting a routine in with napping? And what do you do, eg put them in crib, contact nap, let them fall to sleep on you then transfer them, what if your out? I feel a bit clueless with it all x

Period after 5 weeks

Hello,
Just wondering if there any other women out there who got their period after 5 weeks. I am exclusively breastfeeding as well. It looks like my normal period flow but wanted to check if there were any other women out there who’ve had a similar experience.

Feel down after Health Visitor review

Had the 9 to 12 month review today. They said he’s lost some weight and is on the 25th percentile and I need to drop milk feeds and just focus on solids. I’ve been giving him 3 meals a day but he doesn’t always want it and will want milk afterwards. They say to breastfeed for as long as possible but now I’m being told to stop offering so much. So when should I breastfeed him? It doesn’t help that he usually needs feeding to sleep. His sleep is terrible but rather than be given advice I was told it was wrong to co sleep despite the last health visitor we saw recommending it! I just feel so confused and like I’m doing everything wrong

How do you actually put the baby into the Moses basket/cot without them waking up

Guys every single time I put my 5 week old down into his SNOO or his Moses basket or basically anywhere that isn’t my arms he wakes up within 1 minute. I’ve tried swaddling him - started with the halo one and now tried to arms up love to dream because of the startle reflex but still no luck. I’m putting him down slowly, so does my husband but we’re exhausted.

Nappy bags

Where are we getting our nappy bags from? All the ones I want are like £100+ and that’s just crazy 😅 Looking for something reasonably priced, trendy and has interchangeable straps that can go from a shoulder bag to backpack. Thank you! 💕
