How many times calpol after circumcision?

@Kelly i gave 2. And was concerned as it shouldn’t be given more than 2 in a day as per instructions on the bottle😫

We were given this advice from our doctor (the person that did the circumcision): 1. The foreskin usually takes 10 days to 18 days to heal. In some cases sooner or later. 2. Some discomfort is expected. 3. Circumcision exposes the sensitive skin of the tip of the penis (glans). In babies/children nappies can rub against the glans, making it sore. Therefore, you use petroleum ointment/jelly to prevent discomfort and reduce irritation. 4. After circumcision penis will be red, swollen and ozzy yellowish/greenish layer of sealant will aprear specially underneath of penis.

Please note few things which you may already noticed around the operated area. 1) Swelling 2) Redness 3) Yellowish/whitish/ greenish sticky natural sealant around or underneath of penis. This yellowish/whitish natural sealant is part of healing as mentioned. Sealant is Very similar to umbilical cord sealant, It will disappear naturally within healing time. It is not an infection at all. Please do not try to remove it by force. 5. All of the above will disappeare within the time period of natural healing procedure. 6. It is important to practice good Hygiene and ensure that your child's nappies are frequently changed after a circumcision. 7. Do not use scented products in the shower or bath and leave the penis to dry naturally.

8. PLEASE READ ALL TEXT TO UNDERSTAND HEALING PROGRESS AND BATHING INSTRUCTIONS: Please start bathing your child from today in the salty warm water once or twice a day regularly. Salty warm water bath will help in healing. Please do not take child out door due to very unpredictable weather children can catch cold or get temperature which can prolong healing as well. 1) Bath him like you normally bath him daily just add 2 tea spoons of salt in the water and let the baby sit in the salty warm water for few minutes as comfortable for child. Use normal baby bath tub. 2) Please do not wipe or try to clean operated area, otherwise baby will feel uncomfortable or bleed. 3) Use Vaseline every time you change his nappy until I text you to stop. Bath him in the clean plain water with some salt mixed in it, every day for till fully healed.

It healed in like 8 days and he was okay As long qs we kept applying the sudocrem/vaseline on top of the penis to ensure it wasn't being rubbed on the nappy, he was fine

@Shan thanks alot shan, really appreciate the effort😌 We are using olive oil instead of vaseline. Is that ok?

@Momi I wouldn't be able to advise, I legit just copied and pasted what our doc said and followed through. We also never needed to use calpol so maybe the vaseline helped soothe the pain a bit?

My son didn't have anything for pai n after his circumcision.. I was only told to keep A&D ointment on it like globbed on so the diaper didn't stick..

@Shan it depends on how they did it. Some methods you don't use Vaseline or get it wet. My baby is 3 days old and my doctor did the method where you don't use ointment and keep it dry. He is doing amazing with it.

After the first night it didn’t bother my little boy at all, we gave one dose of Tylenol when the numbing wore off and that was it
