What does my baby need/wear for swimming?

We will be taking our 8 month old swimming for the first time, what do I need for her and what are they expected to wear? Does she wear arm bands? Also does anyone have any opinions in taking them into a normal pool not just a baby pool? Thank you 😊

I've taken my bubs into the big pool and used some pool floats and toys. However, I find the smaller pool easier to move about in and much quieter than the bigger pool. I don't use arm bands, I hold him and maybe use a pool noodle or float to help. I have my boy in a wetsuit, which keeps him warm as its fleeced lined. It was recommended by the swimming teachers as our pool is a little cold. I got my swimming stuff from spash about, but you can pick this stuff up relatively cheap on vinted :) They have reusable swimming nappys and wraps, too, which apparently doesn't need a disposable swimming nappy. I think it's pool dependent, and they have their own rules on nappys, etc.

I take my little one to swimming lessons. The pool is a private heated one for babies so they don't get cold. All swimming nappies i.e. Huggies swimmers do not hold wee so they can have an accident if you dress them before you go Most places like the double nappy system i.e. Huggies swimmers and the a happy nappy over the top. I use splash about happy nappy and their fleece lined wetsuit even in the pool which is heated for babies others in my class use the double nappy system and a shop brought swimming costume and they are fine but again this is in a heated private pool. Public pools are as warm x

Public pools aren’t as warm** I believe you meant?

Yes, aren't as warm. Sorry was juggling breastfeeding and one handed texting 🤣

Swim nappy and a splash about nappy or rash vest if the pool is on the cool side. I just hold my little guy, i wouldn’t trust a noodle or floats independently, always hold onto them (i know that should go without saying) have you thought about some basic lessons for pool safety tips?
