Mental health

Hiya, I’m 18 weeks and 5 days pregnant and I feel like I’m going insane. I feel depressed everyday and I’m really really struggling to hold myself together. I struggle to open up and talk to people but I’m getting so overwhelmed I just feel depressed. I was so excited for my little one and now I just wake up and dread the day. I feel selfish feeling this way and I’m not sure what to do

Are you on any antidepressants? I would talk to a prenatal psychiatrist and get some help! I’m on Zoloft and Wellbutrin and both were approved through prenatal psych. The mother’s mental health is important 🫶🏼 I mean, it always is, but you know what I mean. I’m so sorry you’re suffering

Please let your Midwife know - even if you contact them before your next appointment. It's so important to be open about your mental health with them during pregnancy and after. They can look to support you and refer to Perinatal Mental Health Team if needed. If you can try get support from partner and close family too. You've got this 💪 x

Reach out to your midwife and/or gp that’s what they are there for, there is amazing support especially with the mental health midwife’s. How you are feeling is completely okay, you are going through a massive change and your experience with this journey will be like no one else’s. Can you have a chat with close family or friends, no one will be upset at you but instead incredibly proud of you for talking and asking for support. You’ve got this ❤️

@Sam my mother just says get on with it. I’m 21 with a history of eating disorder and other mental health and I don’t think she understands how big a deal this is all to me. Especially seeing as I’m extremely huge bump wise and look a little further gone than I actually am. It’s a bit of a mess really x

@Emily I’m so sorry for your mother’s response. Sadly some people don’t understand it, or how cruel your mind can be. Do you have friends to reach out to? Or an other half? If you need my inbox is always open for a chat, I understand mental health and while I may not always be able to help but I can listen. Right now take a step back from all the noise around you remember who you are and where you want to be, believe in yourself. Everything you are feeling is okay to feel, and make little steps to ask for help. I promise you it will get better ❤️

I totally understand how you feel 🖤 you're not alone

Please seek support, tell your midwife so they can refer you to perinatal mental health services. If you need to chat feel free to message me x
