Hiking altitude while pregnant

What sort of advice have you received from your providers about hiking in Colorado while pregnant? I’ve been reading online that I shouldn’t go over 10k feet in altitude, but I am finding it hard to find scenic hikes that fall under 10k. I’m trying to avoid the heat, but with that it seems comes much higher altitudes. Please let me know if you have any recommendations! I’m in the Denver area but am willing to drive up to 2 hours to find something good.

El Dorado Canyon State Park is gorgeous! It’s outside of Boulder and according to Google it’s no higher than 8800 feet!!

My provider didn’t give any restrictions, just suggested compression stockings for longer drives. From researching a bit in addition I had concluded that hiking (esp coming from living at higher elevation already) shouldn’t be an issue, just pay attention to your body and hydrate! If there were a concern it seemed more related to staying at higher elevations overnight/longer periods. So unless you’re planning on camping at the top of a 14er…

@Kendra second this!! I’m currently planning a 14er and I’m 17weeks. As long you’re used to hikes and high altitude you should be fine. Just remember to take your time and listen to your body.

My provider said it’s ok to pass through 10k in a car but not to hike/exert/sleep at 10k due to less oxygen to us and therefore to baby. We apparently don’t get a break for living at 5k.

No higher than 10k ft. My midwives were strict about this and knew my job. I’m a tour guide here (a lot of Rocky Mountain National Park). It’s going to be hot right now below 10k so just be prepared - drink A LOT of water! These are in RMNP and are beautiful. To get a last minute reservation ticket, go to their website the night before the day you want to go and they will release a few hundred more tickets for designated 2 hour entry windows - get option 1, it includes Bear Lake Road. These are generally 3 to 5 miles and all under 10k: Cub Lake Trail, Gem Lake Trail, Alberta Falls, Bierstadt Lake Trail, Emerald Lake (a 4 Lake out and back that includes Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, Dream Lake, Emerald Lake- this is a busy trail so don’t take it on a weekend or holiday), Mills Lake is a little longer but goes just over 10k. These are all beautiful and our tourists LOVE them! Boulder: Realization Point - great veiws, usually some wind Colorado hiking newbie tip: Download CO Trex app

Oops… Key part of getting those tickets- they release them at 7pm and they go fast! Happy hiking! 🥾 🌲 🫎 🦌 🐿️ Lemme know if you ever want a hiking buddy! Heat tip: go early

I wasn't given any restrictions 🤷🏼‍♀️
