They won’t be approved for car seat safety so I would avoid x

Everyone will tell you they are not safe. But the only reason no one can say they aren’t safe is because car seat manufacturers aren’t going to test them in every brand. I personally don’t see the different to wearing layers/ a jumper provided you are buying one that’s thin, but the risk is overheating too - you shouldn’t have layers like this on a baby in the car for any period of time really. We found them really useful for things like dog walks the first time as we would still use the travel system/ car seat attachment for walks, but I guess depends what you would be using it for.

The baby will be at risk from over heating in this I would think giving what advice there is out there for car seats. But I would check with your midwife for the best advice around it

I’m getting one. It just looks so snug and as you can’t put a baby in car seat with a big coat on ( as it’s not safe to do so) it looks like a really good way to keep them warm x

Yeah thought about overheating being an issue. At least a light blanket can be removed from top but these need unbuckling and removing I guess. I found a brand just now called Kura organics that has actually done a safety crash test with their blanket. But yes overheating should be considered as another safety issue. I like the idea of using it in a stroller with the harness when out and about in winter etc.

You shouldn't affix anything to the car seat that hasn't been tested with it. So because the straps have to be threaded through this blanket would not be approved by car seat manufacturers. Also babies get really sweaty in car seats! They're very warm, and most cars hear up very quickly so you're at risk of overheating once they're in the car. Much better to just have inside clothing on and chuck a blanket over the top that can be taken off when the car has warmed up.

These not only hold the risk of overheating but also do not allow baby to sit in the position they should be in in the seat due to the bulk underneath baby. In the event of an accident the car seat won’t necessarily prevent the injuries it’s designed to because of this. Save your money and just use a normal blanket over the top

It looks like it has a folded bit as a hat too. Baby shouldn’t wear hat in the car xx
