Gm they only go after the childsupport if u are applying for cash assistance as well. But u cn fill out u would not like to pursue child support n provide evidence as to y , like order of protection. But in ur case he is already supporting the child
I just got approved. I haven't worked since my LO was born. If the Child's father lives with you, yes you have to put his income. My Childs father lives with us and he's the only one making an income right now. They even asked if I wanted to take him to child support. When you apply for all benefits, this include cash assistance, they require the father's information and they will try to make him pay child support. Happened to me and my partner. He's also on public assistance so he ended up not being required to pay child support but it was really dumb and we did have to go before a judge
In terms of child support, he is legally obligated to pay child support, but in general if you are separated then you shouldn’t list him at all. And separately you should go after him for support.
I don’t think so but if he works he should be giving you child support. I don’t think food stamps will go out of their way they’re hard enough to just get in touch with but def apply and then they call you for a over the phone interview it’s def worth it helps out a lot! In fact I’m in same boat I applied for me and my daughter and they never bothered her father for anything

@Fallon yes they require you if you go for cash assistance. But you don’t have to pursue it. When i got the call for the interview regarding child support I told them soon as we were connected I didn’t want to pursue it especially being that my bf lived with us and did more than his part of caring for our kids. And the lady said okay and hung up and that was the end of that. They cant force you to pursue child support especially when the father is in the household. They can’t force you to pursue child support at all really

Also if you don't already you can apply for WIC in an office near you as well. If you're formula feeding they can give up to 10 cans a month. Plus food stamps would help a lot

When they called me for my cash assistance interview i told them he give me a certain amount every 2 weeks and make him write a letter and sign it .

If u are applying for just food stamps and Medicaid, they will not make him pay child support. Once you apply for public assistance, they will “Require” you to take him to child support. I’m going through the process now.
