Do NOT vape while pregnant!!! You can hold off until you deliver your baby safely, god forbid something happened you would never forgive yourself!!

Don’t vape at all when pregnant. If you can’t stop vaping you need help because you’ve got some problems. Vaping can cause serious harm to baby and baby should be your reason not to vape! It’s why midwife’s tell pregnant women to stop smoking and vaping so baby doesn’t end up with health conditions when they are born and to prevent complications during pregnancy and during the birth. The nicotine can seriously and permanently damage babies organs and the developing brain which means baby can be born with brain damage. Even smoking once can cause serious permanent damage.

My midwife referred me to a cessation midwife and she got me free vapes etc said they prefer women to vape atleast, rather than smoke or quit cold turkey

@Sophie there’s more chemicals in vapes than what there is in cigarettes. Vapes have heavy metals in them which is unsafe for baby and the heavy metals are in any disposable vapes. And midwives would rather you quit cold turkey than vaping as they can cause permanent brain damage and permanent damage to babies organs. Smoking and vaping isn’t safe at all when pregnant. Ingesting any recreational drugs is not safe.

I smoked cigarettes up until 29’weeks pregnant; however I cut down dramatically from 20 to 3. Doesn’t make you a bad person; do whatever makes you feel comfortable. But I can happily say I’ve finally been a non smoker for 1 week now!x Baby is healthy& growing perfectly fine. Just be careful 💙💙💙

I’m 14 weeks at the moment and smoke roll ups only 1-2 a day I have a stop smoking midwife and she told me that vaping causes less harm to baby because vapes don’t give off carbon monoxide. It’s easy to fall back into habits but that does make you a bad person.

Im 10 weeks and have quit smoking and vaped since i found out i was pregnant. I was referred to the stop smoking team and she has said it is 95% better to vape then smoke. Aslong as its the 600 puff disposables or a refill pod, its safe. It doesnt have tar or carbon monoxide in and my monoxide levels are that of a non smoker again now

@Regan this isn’t true. My consultant and midwife said I would be better to continue smoking through my pregnancy because of the amount of other medications I came off and the stress it could cause me. I switched to vaping instead and they are really happy with that. It’s the carbon monoxide which is harmful for the baby which you don’t get with vapes. It isn’t always as simple as just quitting and it has been proven that quitting cold turkey can cause more issues

@Lauryn vapes have heavy metals which isn’t safe for baby or any human body. Baby can also get permanent brain and organ damage from vaping not just smoking.

@Regan maybe stop being so judgy. We are all doing the best we can and you judging people doesn’t make it any easier. If I could just stop then I would

@Regan okay regan 🙄 this thread obv not meant for you

@Sophie 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The truth of the matter is that we don’t know. Vapes are too new to have studies on these effects yet, but everything you consume, your baby consumes, so if possible, please don’t do it again

@Lauryn I was just saying that vaping is definitely not good for baby and saying the effects of vaping, especially due to the heavy metals. I used to vape and stopped before I found out I was pregnant because I distracted myself whenever I wanted to vape. I threw them out and did stuff to distract myself. Even my midwife said it’s better to not smoke or vape during pregnancy as both are harmful to baby.

@Regan yet all we can do ia advise without judgement and its to each person to make their own decisions based on that. Not for us to jump down each others throats saying whats right and what's wrong. Your story ia different to everyone elses story and should be treated as just that. Someone asking for advice should be given just that. Not a lecture

@Catherine I get that but I worked in a hospital where a lot of mothers would smoke and it would harm their babies and it’s heartbreaking seeing the post. So many babies ended up harmed due to this same situation and I just want to make sure the mother and baby is okay and can only really advise them and inform them of what could happen that’s all I know what to do.

@Regan i understand that, and advising as you did in your original comment is the same as we've all done. However by replying to everyone who is saying something that isnt your initial advise is clearly getting alot of mothers backs up as your comments which are now looking more like an arguement can come across as quite attacking when the fact of the matter is were all trying our best and learning along the way.

@Catherine and I didn’t mean to come across as argumentative I’ve hardly been on the app but when I have it doesn’t let me see all the comments so I didn’t know if it had shown people my first comment I apologise.
