Elective c section

I have a c section booked for 5th August. Will they pass me my baby straight away while I’m still in the operating room? I’d like to do skin to skin but just wondering what the process is with it x

I was asked if I wanted to do skin to skin in my elective. I said yes as long as safe to do so. It was fine, they brought baby to me. However 5 mins in I started to feel funny, I think my blood pressure dropped so they took baby from me then x

If you're not put out during your surgery as soon as baby is out and everything looks good, they bring baby to you! And then, in the recovery room, they encourage skin to skin!

I had an emergency and some quick checks and baby was on my chest!

Yes I held my baby and had skin to skin the entire time they were stitching me back up💗

i had a emergency section 7 days ago and i got asked if i wanted to hold her after she was out but i was on too much medication to even keep my eyes open so i couldn’t, Just a waiting game to see how you will be during and after the surgery x

As long as baby is ok, they will do skin to skin. Unfortunately I had a emergency one and didn’t get to meet baby for a few hours

I unfortunately didn't even get the option, I was awake the whole time, but they didn't even ask if I wanted to do skin to skin they just cleaned him and wrapped him up right away. It may have been because I was losing tons of blood, though, over 2 liters.

Despite having it in my birth plan, when I had my C-section baby was given straight to dad after they’d done their checks, I wasn’t allowed baby on me until they’d closed me up first and wheeled me to recovery. Then baby did skin to skin with me and had her first feed.

My section was planned. I had skin to skin straight away 🥰 I held her the whole way through the op x

Should do, both times I’ve had c sections I’ve been given baby straight away x

My husband was able to hold our daughter close to me while they finished mine and then once I was off the table, I was able to hold her.

Yes! I was able to hold my baby while they were stitching me back up. He started to fall asleep so I let my husband hold him too because I knew he would be back with me to practice nursing and he was, like 30 minutes later.

I had to see my daughter straight away it’s the best feeling ever 💕

Yes just speak up and let them know you want to ahead of time just incase. With my first they didn't with my second I asked and they did. 🤷‍♀️ same hospital. But maybe because my first took longer to get lungs clear they were being cautious. It was a blur afterward honestly. Have someone take pictures incase the meds make you loopy or anything lol but its a sweet moment I'm sure you'll treasure

Yes, I held my little girl straight away! I told them that’s what I wanted, and for the screen to be lowered when she was born! She went to have her cord cut, then on me the whole time after!

I didn't get to hold my baby until I went into recovery but I lost a lot of blood, needed oxygen and my BP dipped really low. I think it's normal practice to hand baby to you as long as everything is ok ☺️

I had my boy straight away, while they stitched me up only the last layer he then went to dad.

Of course they will hand you baby over they first get the baby all rubbed down with a towel then bring them straight over to you all been well nothing wrong with baby then they will when your ready take baby back over the weight scales do all there checks xx

I got my baby after they stitched me up and held him while being wheeled into recovery!

Yes if that’s what you wish. It was my plan before I went for my emergency but the anaesthetic made me feel so cold and I was uncontrollably shivering so I didn’t feel safe to hold baby I’m having an elective this time I hope that the shivering won’t be an issue as it will be less of a rush.
