I had this exact situation! I went away when I was 27 weeks and flew back the day before I turned 28 weeks. My consultant said there was no problem with me going away. I was anxious about it though and paid a lot money to be fully covered with travel insurance for peace of mind (£200ish). My usual insurance company wouldn’t cover me so I went through another company. I personally wouldn’t have gone without the specialist travel insurance as felt it would be too risky. It’s such a personal choice though!
I’ve been told I’ve got a low lying on my 20 week scan, and been told if it stays low not to fly x
I was told not to fly and I actually ended up bleeding that week. You do what you think is best.
I had a low lying placenta at my 20 week scan and still chose to go on holiday at 27 weeks. My consultant advised against it but my midwife told me I should be ok if I was on complete pelvic rest, no sex, exercise or heavy lifting. It was only a 2 hour flight though and I’d had no previous bleeding. I did feel a bit anxious but made sure I had the correct insurance and took it really easy. I then got rescanned at 30 weeks and it had moved 9cm.
I’ve just cancelled my holiday due to low lying placenta. Absolutely gutted but not worth the risk to me!
It’s a chance case, for things like - what if bleeding happens when you are on holiday and medical attention cost. I bled at 11 weeks but nothing after. But i was advised precautions to avoid bleeding as it is not good. The blood that should go to your baby, instead bleeds and if it continues, there’s risk of Iugr. Had complete and then low lying till week 32. Was advised not to travel overseas only because what if something happens and would need medical attention required and the costs associated. But if you decide, hope it goes well :)
I’ve just been told off my midwife that there’s not any research which proves it can cause complications, so should be okay x
I had the same situation and just didn’t want to risk it so cancelled it! It’s a hard one but I just know I would hate to be abroad and need medical attention! Like you said most the time it does move so I guess it’s completely up to you and whether you’ve had any bleeding yet! X
