Trips outside

Am I being ott to not want to leave the house with my 11 wo in this heat? I’m paranoid she’ll overheat in the pram on walks even with a fan, she still needs the infant insert in her car seat and even with aircon she gets so hot and no where has air con indoors in the UK like cafes etc - at home I keep her cool not sure how when out and about in busy places. Baby classes are paused over summer so I’m not sure what I can safely do but would love to hear what others mums are doing to give me confidence

To be honest we’ve been avoiding the heat entirely. I don’t think it’s fair on them when they don’t enjoy it/have to be in the shade. We’re popping over to our in-laws today as they have a pop up pool in the garden but she’ll be in the shade or in her pushchair inside where it’s cool x

I go to places that I know have air con like cafes, library, shopping centre. And if I go to the park I do it either first thing in the morning or later once its cooler and only put him in a vest. It's a real shame the classes close over summer- my baby is ready to do them now!

Museums are good too

The Jiggy wrigglers in our area still does some classes over summer, maybe they do in other areas too, I'm not sure. We're not going out loads at the moment to be honest but we do a little walk in the late afternoon when the sun isn't as high and it's a bit cooler.

Nope I don’t really go anywhere with my 12 week old in this weather apart from other peoples houses. If I have to go out for anything my mum will stay home with him. We go in the garden and he gets fresh air that way from napping out there!

Nope we’re staying in too! Might have to go sainsburys later just for a change of scenery for my toddler 😂 but otherwise avoiding xx

I’ve been going to inside places in the day and to things that I have to go to (e.g. I had a hospital appointment yesterday so we went to that). I’ve also been doing an evening walk at about 7 which we both enjoy. When we go out in the heat I have her in very light clothes with the snooze shade covering the pram (just a sleeveless short leg romper or sleeveless dress, no vest). No blankets or other covers in the pram. I feed her as much as I can to make sure she’s hydrated (I’m feeding on demand and defo noticing she feeds more in the heat). Things like swimming, baby cinema, museums are good! I’ve been for lunch too a few times, we’re meeting a friend for lunch today.

We had to go to the shop on Wednesday. My little girl was so hot beforehand from just being in the house that she was just in a nappy in the shop
