Colostrum - is it supposed to squirt out?

I see lots of ladies saying that colostrum is like little drops appearing on their nipples. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong, mine has been squirting/spraying out (even when I first started collecting it) and I have to collect it in a pot before syringing it. It takes me less than 5 mins to collect a few ml. Is there something wrong with my colostrum or something?

I’m the same. Basically producing milk already! Sounds like you’ve just got a really good supply already! X

Sounds like milk. I’m not even getting 0.1 of a ml and it’s thick so harder to get in a syringe. Maybe get bigger syringes and breast milk bags and store it so you have plenty ready if baby struggles to latch c

@Kate so did I just somehow skip the colostrum stage? I never had any thick/yellow. Will this affect baby's first feed? 🥺

I’m not an expert and only just started getting my own colostrum. Maybe talk to your midwife. But Im sure it will contain it colostrum too as it made from 16 weeks and stored. I would take it as a positive you have lots for your baby x
