Neighbor’s weed smoke comes into our apartment

My husband and I moved into a new apartment about a month ago. About 2 weeks in we sent a complaint to the office because our upstairs neighbor had been smoking marijuana indoors and it comes into our apartment nearly every day. I have asthma and am also obviously pregnant so this has been a major concern for us (other than the smell just being horrible) 2 weeks ago is when we sent the complaint and it’s only gotten worse. This neighbor has also done several other things that we have chosen not to complain about and we have only complained about the weed smoke. (Examples include leaving their dog out on the porch all day. The dog pees and the pee drips down onto our balcony. Not to mention it’s extremely hot out there. They also have blasted music for hours at a time in the middle of the night on several occasions and are constantly stomping around - not just regular footsteps, it sounds like they’re dropping bricks 24/7 or they’re playing basketball in their kitchen) but the only thing we have complained about is the weed smoke. I’m totally gaslighting myself and feel like such a Karen. I don’t want to be the reason anyone loses their home (neither does my husband) but it’s a non smoking complex and it’s just so bad. Am I being ridiculous?

I felt this. Last year during my pregnancy my downstairs neighbors would smoke and it would radiate through the air vents into our house. My husband filed the complaint and we never had issues after but we also lived on a military base in a state where it’s not legal. The issues wasn’t 100% solved but they would notice they would watch for my car specifically to be gone and when I’d get back it would smell. But no you and your babies safety is more important than them violating their lease

I don’t smoke and I don’t like weed at all but I do kind of feel bad that your neighbors are getting evicted from their home. Especially during a time like this

^they can smoke literally anywhere else, even outside since they have a porch. There’s no need for them to keep doing it inside when it’s not even allowed. Actions have consequences 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Kayla Yes they most definitely and obviously should have smoked outside. But I still feel bad for them and hope they don’t struggle too hard finding a new place 🙏🏼

Since the property manager sent the 7 days to cure notice, we haven’t smelled anything but food coming from his apartment so hopefully he finally stopped!
